In response to complaints about Safari’s flaws and lack of support, the Safari and WebKit teams at Apple have taken to Twitter to solicit input.

According to Apple Evangelist and Web Developer Experience team champion Jen Simmons, “everyone in my mentions [is] claiming Safari is the worst, it’s the new IE.” she said on her Twitter account. As a result, she began soliciting input from consumers, requesting that they point up any faults or instances of lacking support that was preventing the smooth operation of her websites and applications.

Simmons also advised people to email her with a link from bugs.webkit.org or a Feedback number from Apple’s Feedback Assistant if they detect problems that have been “many years old and not resolved.” The general response to the request for comments has been encouraging.

In recent years, some Safari users have complained about the browser’s bugs, user experience, and compatibility with websites. When Apple introduced a major overhaul of Safari at WWDC last year, it was greeted with significant criticism that accused the changes of being “counterintuitive.” Just before the public release of iOS 15, iPadOS15, and macOS Monterey, Apple decided to return to Safari’s original appearance by default after months of refining in response to user input.
