Another day, another Netflix programme that has been cancelled.
According to reports, Netflix has no plans to change its reputation for swiftly cancelling popular television series in the year 2022. The next original series to be axed has just been revealed, after the announcement of two cancellations earlier this month.
There will be no more episodes of science-fiction series Another Life, since the programme has been cancelled after two seasons. “I wish we could do more seasons, but unfortunately it’s simply not in the cards,” the show’s actress, Katee Sackhoff, tweeted in response to the news.
Niko Breckinridge (Sackhoff) was an astronaut who led a brave team on a journey across the galaxy to find the origins of an extraterrestrial artefact that had been found on Earth. Elizabeth Faith Ludlow was also a cast member of the series. Slasher’s creator and showrunner, Aaron Martin, also worked on this project. Slasher was just renewed for a fifth season.
20 episodes, two seasons, and a less-than-stellar critical reaction complete the tenure of Another Life. Although the show’s first season had a dismal Rotten Tomatoes rating of only 6 percent, it received a considerably more positive audience rating of 69 percent. This positive response from the public did not seem to be enough to persuade Netflix to continue the series.
A comeback of Another Life seems unlikely for some time now. When season two of the programme premiered in October, Netflix remained mostly mute about its performance, which is never a good indication.
Netflix isn’t afraid to brag about its successes, but it’s less likely to do so when it comes to its failures. On social media, Sackhoff made light of the fact that Netflix never allows series to reach a third season in December.
Another opportunity is lost
Another Life isn’t the first Netflix original programme to end in 2022, and it’s likely not the last. If a programme isn’t drawing in a substantial number of subscribers, Netflix has a reputation for swiftly cancelling it.
The fact that Netflix creates so much material every year may explain this, but it’s a problem that users must deal with. Netflix’s original programmes are great, but don’t get too connected to them..
Even then, Netflix is still one of the top streaming services out there, and the number of individuals who will be saddened by the termination of Another Life is limited. The cancellation of a programme is never welcome, particularly when the writers and producers plainly had more material to work with.
Stranger Things season 4 will appear on Netflix in the spring, according to the network’s official announcement. Volume 1 of the series will premiere on May 27 and Volume 2 will follow on July 1 of that year.
