Trial production has reportedly begun for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro, which could be an important milestone in the development of the devices. Apple’s OEM partners, according to a report on the Chinese website UDN, have already begun small-scale production in preparation for larger-scale production later this year.
Apple allegedly orders a similar trial every February, according to UDN, and it’s an important step in the phone’s manufacturing process. It’s a goal of this phase to finalise a device’s design, calibrate testing machines for quality assurance, and identify any issues with the manufacturing process.
As a result, once mass production begins, problems can be avoided and the process as a whole is made to run more smoothly.
As a result, we don’t know a lot about the iPhone 14. Trial production appears to be on track, which suggests the phone will be available in time for its scheduled September release date. And that assumes that the supply chain woes don’t worsen in the coming months.
This is a significant milestone, and we can expect to see more iPhone 14 leaks in the near future. To see what Apple has planned for the fall, it’s common to see prototype components and design schematics on the production line.
So far, there hasn’t seemed to be any shortage of iPhone 14 rumours. A 90Hz screen has been rumoured, which would be an improvement over the 60Hz screens found on the iPhone 13 and 13 mini, but it’s still a far cry from the iPhone 13 Pro’s 120Hz ProMotion display.
Reports claim Apple has abandoned plans to implement Touch ID on screen, while the notchless FaceID cameras are expected to arrive only next year at the earliest. The iPhone 14 Pro is also expected to have 8GB of RAM, an e-SIM-only model, and the iPhone 14 mini could be replaced by a larger, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max.
The iPhone 14 is expected to feature a new 48MP main camera sensor, which would represent a significant resolution increase over the iPhone 13 that is currently available. However, it’s unclear whether this update will just be available for the iPhone 14 Pro.
