Second-generation Eve Water Guard has been released by Eve Systems, a smart home accessory company. However, the Water Guard’s design has remained the same, making it the first HomeKit water leak detection on the market with Thread networking capabilities.

Since this year’s theme is “Thread & Matter,” Eve CEO Jerome Gackel says the company is extending its already-large Thread line. Eve devices with Thread give the smart home experience of the future now, without the need for a bridge or cloud.”

Compared to Bluetooth, Thread networking offers better range, quicker reaction times, and improved overall dependability when linked to a Thread Border Router — such as Apple’s HomePod mini. It’s as simple as scanning the provided pairing code with no extra accounts or passwords to set up Thread using HomeKit.

Additionally, Eve Water Guard is also the only HomeKit-enabled water leak sensor that can be connected to an electrical outlet. The Eve Water Guard uses a 6.5-foot water detecting line instead of laying immediately on the surface of possible hotspots, like battery-operated leak sensors. Up to 490-foot total length is available for additional extension cables, ensuring complete coverage.

The Eve Water Guard has an integrated 100dB siren and warning light that will sound if there is a leak. Using a HomeKit hub in your house allows you to send push alerts to all of your Apple devices when you’re away from home.
