The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has received a fresh OTA update that includes a slew of new features and enhancements. The 736MB update pushes the Duo 2’s software version number up to 2022.418.98.
Displays with the Glance Bar provide information that may be quickly accessed, such as the current time and date, and alerts. Third-party messaging app alerts will now be displayed in the update. Microsoft Teams alerts are now shown in the Glance Bar instead of SMS or voicemail.
Automatic pairing with the Surface Duo 2 is now possible thanks to a software upgrade for the Slim Pen 2. In order to obtain a firmware update, the Slim Pen 2 will need to be linked over Bluetooth (no need to do this with a Surface PC) and when updated to version 5.133.139, the Slim Pen 2 will be able to instantly pair to the Surface Duo while inking on both displays.
Optimized charging, haptic feedback in the Camera app’s settings, and Device Firmware Configuration Interface (DFCI) compatibility are among the new features that have been added to the software. The “usability” of the camera app is enhanced, which is a little ambiguous, but it should either be faster or perform better.
Surface Duo’s original version, 2022.418.56, was likewise updated but simply indicated “device stability” improvements.
