The second trailer for House of the Dragon, HBO’s long-awaited prequel series to Game of Thrones, has finally been released.
Seven months after the initial teaser, this new one provides viewers a clearer glimpse at the corrupt politics, awe-inspiring settings, and dragon-induced catastrophe we’ve come to anticipate from George R.R Martin’s famed fantasy realm.
Based on George RR Martin’s 2018 book, Fire and Blood, the 10-episode series will premiere in the United States and other HBO Max regions on August 21. Sky Atlantic and Now TV subscribers in the United Kingdom will be able to watch the show at the same time as their American counterparts on August 22.
House of the Dragon, which takes place 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, will explore the bloody history of the Targaryen family and the consequences of King Viserys Targaryen’s decision to name his daughter, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, as the Iron Throne’s rightful heir instead of Prince Daemon Targaryen.
Viserys, Rhaenyra, and Daemon are all played by Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, and Emma D’Arcy, with Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke, and Steve Toussaint rounding out the group. In our dedicated site, you can learn more about the show’s characters and their different responsibilities.
“History does not remember blood,” warns House of the Dragon’s new teaser, which also features the HBO series’ renowned fire-breathing dragons, who seem every bit as terrifying as we remember. It’s got a database of user names stored in it.” So, come August, we can expect plenty of backstabbing barons and fighting soldiers to entertain us.
HBO also released a fresh batch of character posters on their Twitter account in conjunction with the teaser, which you can see by clicking on the following link.
It is being directed by Game of Thrones veteran Miguel Sapochnik and co-executive produced by George R. R. Martin and Ryan Condal.
