This Lite Mode for Chrome will no longer be available.

After recently announcing the demise of Android’s ‘Chrome Lite Mode,’ Google has now announced the demise of another another product next month. A rising number of Google products, including Reader, Play Music, and Gaming on YouTube, have been retired.

As of March 29, Chrome 100 for Android’s Lite Mode has been officially terminated. A fresh browser may be in your best interest if you’re still experiencing poor internet speeds or a data limit.

Because of a variety of developments that have taken place in recent years, Google has said that it is phasing out Lite Mode. As a result, not only has the “cost” of cellular data “decreased,” but Chrome’s data needs and load speeds have also been improved.

Chrome Data Saver was the initial name for Chrome Lite Mode when it arrived in 2014. Essentially, the aim was to provide lighter versions of web pages to users by default, which would make them load quicker and use less bandwidth.

The Data Saver plugin was also available on the desktop version of Chrome. Although this was discontinued in 2019, the Android version was reintroduced with a Lite mode in 2019. That, too, has come to a close.

It’s understandable in a way. Because the “light” version of a web page would take more than five seconds to load, Lite Mode was calibrated to load the “lite” version of the web page. The tool would be rendered obsolete if it were used in cases like these.

Thanks to a caveat included in the statement, Google’s Chrome will continue guarantee quick website loading times on mobile devices. As a result, even without Lite Mode, mobile browsing should continue to improve.
