Having 8GB of RAM on an iPhone 14 Pro would make it a real powerhouse.
Despite the fact that September is still a long way off, rumours regarding the next iPhone 14 continue to circulate. New speculation suggests that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will contain 8GB of RAM, making it the most capacity an iPhone has had to this point.
The user yeux1122 on the Korean site Naver spread this misinformation. According to the user, supply chain resources support his 8GB assertion. It’s been reported that the specifications have been finalised and that production has begun. The majority of the improvements promised for the iPad Mini 6 were realised. As a result, this assertion should be treated with caution.
However, this is in keeping with what analyst Jeff Pu had to say before. This is where we originally learned that the iPhone 14 Pro variants might have 8GB of RAM. We don’t know for sure how reliable Pu is, but 8GB of RAM in the upcoming Pro iPhones is a reasonable assumption.
8 GB of RAM is a lot of RAM, but what does it mean? For you, this means that more programmes may run in the background without needing to be terminated by the system. If your Android phone has 8GB or more of RAM, the operating system can be less aggressive about deleting old apps.
The 8GB iPhone would only theoretically allow you to access applications that you haven’t touched in a while quicker than they now do on the existing iPhones. There are now two most powerful smartphones on the market—the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max—which contain 6GB of RAM. Combined with the A16 Bionic system-on-chip, 8GB might be a game changer.
As far as we can tell the Galaxy S22 Ultra can’t compete with the iPhone 13 Pro in our Galaxy S22 Ultra benchmarks. This year’s iPhone 14 Pro is expected to increase the gap between Apple and the greatest Android smartphones ever.
In contrast to Apple, several Android phone manufacturers are choosing the route of increasing the amount of RAM in order to solve the issue of memory management (insert Moon Knight joke here). Apple has a heavy-handed approach to everything from ensuring the system has adequate memory to limiting the battery’s use. This holds true across the board for all of the company’s software.
We don’t know much about the A16 Bionic yet, but an iPhone 14 Pro with 8GB of RAM might signal terrible news for any Android phone this year when it comes to sheer performance. For now, it seems like Apple will retain its lead in 2022 when it comes to phone performance, even if Google’s second-generation Tensor processor really outperforms Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
