Here’s how to disable Google Assistant on your smart speaker or phone.
For the vast majority of Android users, the answer to this question has been a mystery.
If you’re like most Android users, your phone works well except for one problem: you keep inadvertently activating the voice assistant. It’s possible that Google Assistant is reacting to anything you say in conversation or something you hear on TV or in an ad.
There are occasions when the feature’s promise to assist at inopportune times is irritating. There is, however, a simple method to turn off Google Assistant.
An Android phone user’s guide to disabling Google Assistant
First, launch the Google app on your Android device (or tablet). Using the profile symbol in the upper-right corner, choose Settings from the drop-down menu.
Please press the three-dots More icon on your device and choose Settings if you don’t see this option
To access Google’s virtual assistant, hit the “Google Assistant” option on the Settings screen. This item may be found around half way down the list.
You can now deactivate Google Assistant on certain Android phones by simply turning off the button next to the choice.
Alternatively, you may go to “Assistant devices” (or Devices on certain phones) and turn off Google Assistant there.
To prevent Google Assistant from working with certain Android phones (like the newest Motorola models), it is integrated directly into their software.
Google Assistant’s “All Settings” area may be accessed by swiping down from the “All Settings” portion of the settings screen. Google Assistant may be disabled by going to the General tab and unchecking the Google Assistant box.
By selecting “Turn Off,” you’re indicating your intent to remove the function from the system entirely.
On Google Home speakers, how do you turn off Google Assistant?
A Google Home or Nest speaker can’t be turned off, but you can mute the microphone so that Google doesn’t hear you. Turning the microphone on and off is as simple as pressing the microphone button on your speaker.
Google Home and Google Nest speakers have this button located on the back, whereas Google Home Mini and Google Nest Mini have it located next to the power cable.
