The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 would look like this if it had a built-in S Pen slot.
This design flourish will likely appear on more Samsung smartphones in the near future, now that Samsung has worked out how to include a S Pen into the Galaxy S22 Ultra. A built-in stylus for the foldable Galaxy Z Fold 4 might be on the way.
This year’s S22 Ultra and the Galaxy S21 Ultra that before it are the only non-Galaxy Fold phones that have S Pen capability. Galaxy Z Fold is anticipated to get an upgrade in the second half of the year, and it’s probable that the foldable will follow the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s lead and include a place for a stylus in the chassis.
To see what a Galaxy Z Fold with an integrated S Pen would look like, you don’t have to wait until the end of the summer or the beginning of the autumn. Designer Waqar Khan has created a concept design video for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 that includes a pen inside the folding phone’s frame.
When the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is unfolded, the S Pen may be retrieved from a slot on the right side of the device. That’s where the S Pen is on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, except that the phone doesn’t fold out.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3’s lack of a built-in S Pen slot is a major flaw. In spite of the fact that productivity-minded customers loved having a pen, the S Pen had to be purchased separately as an optional device. As we discovered when testing the S Pen on Samsung’s foldable, this wasn’t the most convenient solution, and it ruled out useful features like the ability to wake the screen by sliding out the S Pen.
The S Pen that comes with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is likely to function similarly to the one that comes with the S22 Ultra. For the pen, we think that implies Bluetooth connection, which we also hope will pick up certain foldable phone-specific advantages, like as the ability to draw notes on the phone’s outer display.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4’s specifications aren’t mentioned in Khan’s video, maybe because they haven’t been made public yet. While it’s impossible to know for sure, the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s exterior and internal screens are likely to be the same size as the Galaxy Z Fold 3. This year’s Galaxy Z Fold 4 could adopt some of the S22 Ultra’s features, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor and Samsung’s new 45W charger.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 design update we’re most excited to see is a reduction in the gap where the display folds together, in addition to a slot for the S Pen. In comparison to the Galaxy Z Fold’s Oppo Find N foldable, its two panels sit flat against one other, allowing for a more compact design. S Pen flaws appear to be fixed, thus the next Galaxy Z Fold 3 feature that has to be corrected with the next generation is this: the foldable design. Source
