Play Elden Ring on PlayStation 5 and not Xbox Series X.
Everybody in the gaming industry appears to be enamoured with Elden Ring at the moment. FromSoftware’s newest action RPG is both intriguing and challenging, and for good reason. The PS5 offers a significant edge over the Xbox Series X, so if you haven’t yet jumped in, you may want to do so.
On both next-generation platforms, Elden Ring suffers from obvious framerate drops, yet the loading durations are vastly different. Because of this, gamers on PS5 will spend substantially less time looking at loading screen tips than Xbox Series X players, as seen in IGN’s performance review video.
Our Elden Ring PC difficulties guide explains what you can do if you’re experiencing troubles when playing the game.
IGN’s research indicated that on PS5 the average loading time was roughly 7 seconds, while on Xbox Series X it may take as long as 20 seconds before players were put back into the game.
I spent the weekend playing Elden Ring on Xbox Series X and can attest to loading times of roughly 19 seconds from the main menu and an average of 12 seconds after a death.
Loading times of about 20 seconds may not seem like a major concern, especially considering loading times on PS4 and Xbox One might reach a full minute in certain large open world games, but Elden Ring is a game where death is a constant and loading times can take up to a full minute in some games. There are a lot of loading screens to deal with in Elden Ring, unlike in Dying Light 2 Stay Human, where you may go for long periods of time without seeing a single loading screen.
Having to wait for 20 seconds after each death on Xbox Series X seems like a double whammy. When you’re trying to defeat a tough monster and dying often, this loading disparity becomes a big annoyance. Fast movement across the map, which you’ll do a lot of in Elden Ring, will be affected by this as well.
This discrepancy in loading times demonstrates the SSD’s superiority in the PS5. Despite the fact that the PS5 has 825GB of built-in storage, the drive in Sony’s system is capable of 5.5GB per second, which is twice as fast as Microsoft’s top-of-the-line Xbox, which comes in at roughly 2.4GB per second.
For those who only have an Xbox, this problem is hardly a deal breaker. Personally, I’m having a fun on Xbox Series X while exploring the Lands Between. However, if you have the option, you should play on a PS5. Currently, it looks to be the best platform for console games.
These hints will come in handy if you’re going to start on your own Elden Ring adventure. Don’t worry if you’re having a hard time with the initial boss fight. If you can defeat the game’s first boss, Elden’s Ring, you’ve beaten the game. Perseverance is crucial in a game like Dark Souls that might be very difficult to beat. Source
