When you view a mockup of Apple iPhone 14’s purported intention to remove the notch, it seems a bit awkward.
At the very least, certain variants of the iPhone 14 are expected to do away with the notch that has been a feature of Apple phones since the iPhone X. Nonetheless, Apple’s alleged remedy for getting rid of the notch may be as shocking as the notch itself
So far, so good, according to a designer who has prepared a series of concept images for the iPhone 14. Volodymyr Lenard’s design, which he uploaded on Instagram, has nothing wrong with it, but the many display cuts that take the place of the notch can’t be ignored.
That expression isn’t a made-up concoction. For the iPhone 14, a pill-shaped cutout has been rumoured, rather than a notch, according to recent reports. Face ID sensors and a front-facing camera need a punch-hole cutout in addition to the pill-shaped hole.
As a result, this is precisely what Lenard’s iPhone 14 design portrays. Maybe we’ll grow accustomed to this if Apple goes this route, but making more holes in a phone’s screen makes them feel more invasive.
A camera’s punch-hole cutout has the advantage of being easier to hide since it’s simply one hole in the screen. Another cutout adjacent to the pill-shaped cutout takes attention away from the main point of interest. Apple fans are already aware with the “notch,” so it could be a good idea to stick with it.
If you’ve seen the iPhones Apple has manufactured in previous years, Lenard’s iPhone 14 concept design may appear familiar. Any iPhone 14 speculations have anticipated similar design cues to the existing iPhone 13 models, including square camera modules and straight corners.
Because of what we’ve seen with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, that camera array stands out. Multi-lens cameras on the back of Samsung’s newest flagship phone blend in perfectly. In contrast to the conspicuous camera bumps on contemporary phones, including as the iPhone 13 series and this prototype iPhone 14, which shows off the Pro versions and their three-camera array.
With the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Samsung has shown a better method to house cameras, and it’s a design that others should follow.
