If fresh reports are to be believed, Peloton may soon be adding a rowing machine to its lineup of home training equipment, which has long been speculated.
Earlier this week, the Financial Times reported that Peloton is nearing the addition of two more fitness goods to its line-up: a rowing machine and a strength-training device.
An upcoming rowing machine, called Project Ceaser, is expected to be identical to Peloton’s treadmills and cycles, according to a recent article. On the ocean and in studio, teachers will lead Peloton lessons.
These rumours have been floating about for a while. 9to5Google found additional lines of code in a Peloton app update for Android users in August 2021 referencing stroke placements and picturesque backgrounds. Although no particular rivers or routes were mentioned, it is believed that the backgrounds would allow users to “Just Row” on some of the world’s most renowned waterways, similar to the Peloton bike’s “Just Ride” function.
What do we know thus far about the peleton rowing machine?
FT reports that Peloton staff are already testing the rower at home, and it is expected that the equipment will be shown at Peloton’s Homecoming event, which takes place on May 13th.
According to the FT, the second device, which seems to be a strength trainer similar to Tonal, is still some time away from being on sale. “Product line expansions” is a primary focus for Peloton’s new CEO, Barry McCarthy, who told the FT that the brand’s depleting stock, personnel losses, and stop in production on its cycles and treadmills have all recently been making headlines for the company.
Two new codes, Mazu and Ceasar, were uncovered in the system last year. It is anticipated that users would be able to keep track of their total strokes, as well as their maximum stroke rate and average stroke rate, based on the app’s current capability.
The pricing of comparable smart rowing machines, such as the Hydrow, has not yet been announced. Starter prices for the Peloton Bike and treadmill are both $ 1,895. Peloton membership fees of $39 are required for each of these courses.
What has Peloton stated about the new product?
A job posting for a ‘Senior Product Safety Engineer’ referenced the rower last year, but Peloton hasn’t commented on the launch yet. After being taken down, this portion of the job description read: “The potential surrounding Peloton Linked Devices is substantial and rising — there are already more connected items than there are people on the planet.”. Everything from small sensor-based gadgets to powerful machines like bicycles and rowing machines to future large-scale items that will have a significant influence on the way we live our lives.”
A Peloton wristwatch might be the “small sensor-based devices” described in the job posting, given the company recently purchased Atlas Wearables, Aiqudo, and Otari.
As of now, we don’t know when the rower will hit the market, but rumours and code development suggest that we won’t have to wait too long.
