In-meeting responses and the option to meet immediately in Google Docs with picture-in-picture
In an effort to improve productivity and flexibility, Google Workplace is adding new capabilities. Google Meet is expected to benefit. With a few months’ notice, Google says it will begin rolling out a number of Meet updates aimed at making it easier to host hybrid meetings that include both remote participants and those physically present in the same room.
Earlier this week, Google announced many new Workspace features, including upgrades to Google Meet, in a post on the Workspace blog. Adding in-meeting replies and picture-in-picture features seem to be the most significant enhancements to the video conferencing software. Also, in Docs, Sheets, and Slides, you’ll be able to start a meeting.
Google Meet is getting some updates, and we take a closer look.
Reactions at the Google Meet
In certain cases, delivering a speech to a large audience from afar might seem like yelling into the abyss. By emulating in-person reactions during a meeting, Google Meet’s in-meeting response tool seems to link presenters with participants.
Specifically. Animated emojis—hearts, thumbs up, smiling faces, and the like—can be used as in-meeting responses. When these animated responses are utilised, they will display in a user’s video tile or alongside their name if their video tile isn’t available.
According to Google, the goal is to provide “instant feedback to presenters and other participants” via these comments. Using the “love” emoji causes three hearts to float up from the bottom of her video tile, which is seen in a video clip on the blog.
During April, you may expect to see Google Meet’s in-meeting responses.
Picture-in-a-picture mode is available on Google Meet.
You’ll be able to take advantage of another feature Google is bringing to Meet if you conduct your video meetings using a Chrome browser. Multitasking is expected to benefit from picture-in-picture.
A floating window with up to four video tiles will appear if you choose this option. Users may immediately return to the whole meeting by clicking the window, which remains on top of other apps. This function is being marketed by Google as a way to make it easier to share material.
It will be available in April, much like in-meeting replies.
Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides may be used to start meetings in Google Meet
Getting started with Google Meet is also going to be a lot easier, as you’ll be able to do so directly from Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
By implementing this new feature, Google says users will be able to incorporate their meetings into documents, spreadsheets or presentations so that all participants can see them at the same time. According to Google, this should lead to more prospects for cooperation.
Additional Google Meet features
This year, Google also announced a slew of additional new features, including the ability to webcast meetings live on YouTube. If you haven’t already done so, you’ll be able to participate in Q&As and polls via livestream later this year. In addition to the 500 participants, Google Meet allows live feeds to be broadcast to up to 100,000 people.)
Additionally, Google Meet’s client-side encryption has been added to all Google Meet devices, as well as noise dampening.
Because hybrid meetings aren’t going away any time soon, these new improvements to Google’s popular meeting software could prove to be useful.
