The Genesis GV60, an all-electric luxury crossover, will appeal to affluent buyers.
In an effort to expand its product line, Genesis, Hyundai’s premium business, aims to launch the Genesis GV60 all-electric sedan sometime in 2022. A crossover SUV by any other name, the EV has a beautiful exterior and promises to be a luxurious inside.
When it comes to interiors, Genesis does a good job of distinguishing itself from the conventional Toyota brand, and the GV60 seems to be no exception.
Indeed, the G70, G80, Electrified G80, and G90 are now well-known luxury automobile brands in the United States, with a promising lineup of excellent cars. In addition, there are two sleek SUVs in the form of the GV70 and the GV80.
Nevertheless, the Genesis GV60, which will be available soon, has the potential to appeal to a whole new demographic by fusing a luxurious aesthetic with true electric vehicle (EV) capabilities.
A look at Genesis GV60’s release date and pricing.
The Genesis GV60 is slated for a Spring 2022 introduction, but Genesis hasn’t provided any other specifics about the vehicle’s release date.
As far as I know, there are no established price points. The Kia EV6 is expected to cost roughly $55,000 (£40,895 in the UK and around AUD$75,000) in the US, but considering the brand’s luxury appeal, it’s likely to cost more.

Range and battery life of Genesis GV60
As with Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 and the forthcoming Kia EV6, the Genesis GV60 will be based on the same Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The 77.3 kWh battery pack will be used in each of the three models, and the range will be somewhere around 300 miles.
There is little question that the RWD model will have the greatest range, as AWD vehicles usually demand a bit more power GV60 sales may suffer if larger-wheeled versions of the vehicle are introduced.
Genesis says that the GV60 can tolerate DC charging rates of up to 350kW. Using one of these chargers, you can get from 10% to 80% charge in only 18 minutes, if you can locate one.
Right now, we’re not quite at the convenience of a petrol station, but we’re getting there.
Additionally, the GV60 can receive up to 11 kW of AC power, which is much slower but better suited for low-key charging at home or elsewhere. Right now, we don’t know how long this is going to take.
The GV60 from Genesis: A Workhorse
Genesis initially kept the GV60’s performance specifications under wraps. Some of the data have been disclosed as we come closer to launch, including how much raw power is available in the three variants that will be offered…
In all, the all-wheel drive Performance variant will have two 160kW motors, giving it 320kW of total power, or around 429 horsepower. The GV60’s Boost Mode, on the other hand, may boost each motor’s output by an additional 20kW, bringing the total to 180kW (241 horsepower). In this mode, each motor can produce a maximum torque of 350 Nm.
The all-wheel-drive Standard model has 74 kW of power up front and 160 kW at the back, while the rear-wheel-drive Standard model has 168 kW of power in a single motor, for a total of 225 horsepower. The maximum torque on these two variants is 350 Nm and 605 Nm, respectively.
Expect a maximum 146mph top speed and around 4 seconds to get from zero to sixty-two miles per hour.
Design of Genesis GV60
One of the apparent advantages of purchasing a Genesis GV60 is that it will feel like a luxury car. In terms of functionality, the all-electric model has a lot going for it, but it does so in a way that may not sit well with everyone.
With a quirky Crest Grille and two lines quad lamps, the Genesis GV60’s design is inspired on ‘Athletic Elegance,’ according to Genesis.
In addition, there is an all-in-one clamshell design for the hood and fenders. This helps to keep things clean and uncluttered while still looking great. With digital door mirrors, there will be less clutter on the car’s sides, making it easier to get in and out of the vehicle. More subdued styling cues like Two Line rear lights and a fixed rear wing spoiler are seen on the rear bumper.
Interior & Features of the Genesis GV60
In terms of the inside, the press images you see here reveal a striking resemblance to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6’s interior design characteristics. The fact that you’re driving a Genesis means that you’ll get a lot more luxurious seats, a lot more bling on the design front, and, of course, excellent infotainment.
Interestingly, the Crystal Sphere, which lets you pick a driving style and offers advice on road conditions, is an important element in this regard. Two screens, one housing the primary instrument cluster in front of the steering wheel and the other holding an infotainment panel in the middle, add to the car’s technological appeal. The digital door mirrors are shown on screens at the ends of the dash.
In addition to the luxury look, a good amount of internal room is expected with the Genesis brand. The level surface offered by the E-GMP platform and its underfloor battery pack will undoubtedly assist with this.
A keyless ignition system is planned to be added to Genesis, enabling the driver to start their vehicle using their face or fingerprints, rather than using a key. However, how this will be implemented and whether or not it would give further protection against unauthorised usage is still up in the air.
Speculations on the internet claim that the Genesis GV60 will also include a wireless charging system. Having the ability to charge your Genesis GV60 wirelessly at home might be a highly appealing selling point, but it’s likely that such capabilities will also raise the price tag significantly.
The Genesis GV60:
The Genesis GV60 has had a mixed reception so far, with some of the more critical sections of the automotive press failing to be enthused by its eccentric external aesthetics. Even so, the Genesis GV60 is certain to have all the luxury features you’d expect from a high-end automotive manufacturer. It might potentially be the model that expands the brand’s European appeal.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 and the Kia EV6 are also receiving a lot of attention, so the Genesis GV60 might find itself in a fight with one of its own siblings. The GV60, on the other hand, may have a place in the market for purchasers who are looking for a little more finesse when they acquire their first totally electric vehicle.
In an effort to expand its product line, Genesis, Hyundai’s premium business, aims to launch the Genesis GV60 all-electric sedan sometime in 2022. A crossover SUV by any other name, the EV has a beautiful exterior and promises to be a luxurious inside.
With its new ICE-powered G80 and GV80, Genesis has taken a good step up in luxury, much as Lexus does with its high-end step up from the standard Toyota brand.
