The Old Man’s official release date and hour have been set for tonight. And it’s possible that most Thomas Perry (and Jeff Bridges) admirers already knew this. Dan Chase, a former CIA agent played by Bridges, looks like a show that many people would love to watch, and it is based on books written by Perry.

  • When: The Old Man episode 1 debuts at 10 p.m. ET today (Thursday, June 16) on FX, it then arrives on Hulu tomorrow (Friday, June 17)
  • Watch in the U.S.: FX is available on Sling TV Blue (currently $10 off for the first month), or on Hulu

Bridges is pitted against an old friend, Harold Harper, in The Old Man, which may have been named “The Old Man’s Still Got It” (John Lithgow). It made sense to contact Harper, the FBI’s Assistant Director for Counterintelligence, because of their shared past. Because he knows that Chase will not be defeated that easily.

Along for the voyage is Angela Adams, one of his more promising new agents (Alia Shawkat, playing the part of Maeby Fünke to our detriment). In addition, Harper has enlisted the help of CIA Special Agent Raymond Waters (E.J. Bonilla) in the investigation. But what if three isn’t sufficient? So far, it’s been made known that a ringer by the name of Julian Carson (Gbenga Akinnagbe from The Wire) has been signed on.

Chase has one ally in this fight: Zoe McDonald (Amy Brenneman), the woman he rents a room from, who is still trying to rebuild her trust after a tumultuous divorce.
