Fisker Ocean price, release window, price interior, range

The Fisker Ocean SUV is on its way, and it will join the booming market for electric SUVs. As a result, the Fisker will face intense competition and be forced to stand out. Because it’s going to be difficult to win over drivers’ hearts and minds.

However, the Fisker boasts a solar-equipped roof, 350 miles of range, recycled materials, and a price tag of less than $40,000. Despite the lack of specifics, here’s what we do know about the Fisker Ocean thus far.


Fisker Ocean: Release window and price

To arrive by the end of 2021 or early 2022, the first Fisker Ocean models were expected. With the goal of producing more than one million automobiles between 2020 and 2027, it appears that Fisker has established a “strategic global and localized supply network.”

A year after a launch at LA’s Motor Show in November of 2021, the company has stated the car won’t go into production until November of 2022. In February 2022, during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the device will make its European premiere, but there is no information on when it will be released.

There’s a good chance deliveries will begin before the year’s out.


Given how difficult it would have been to get those automobiles ready by year’s end, a delay may have been a good thing.

Things are looking well from a financial standpoint. Prices for the Fisker Ocean Ocean Sport start at $37,499 and go up from there. It starts at $49,999 for the Ocean Ultra and $68,889 for the Ocean Extreme, the latter of which is more expensive.

A $2,999 “initiation and activation charge” will secure a flexible lease arrangement for the Ocean from Fisker. Maintenance and service are included in the 30,000-mile per year leasing term. There is a $250 refundable deposit required to sign up.


In fact, Fisker has just revealed a second electric vehicle based on its Ocean platform. The $29,900 Fisker Pear will be available in 2024.

Fisker Ocean: Design and interior

You’d be forgiven for thinking the Fisker Ocean was an ordinary SUV from the outside. We don’t yet know the exact dimensions of this vehicle, but it has enough room for five people to sit comfortably. Outside, there appears to be lots of interior space, which bodes well for the trunk.

With its noticeable side impact prevention beams, Fisker boasts that the automobile has “the highest five star safety rating.” No formal remarks from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or any other regulator in charge of accident testing cars have been made yet, however,


The dashboard will have a big 17.1-inch touchscreen control panel and a digital gauge cluster, just like many other electric vehicles.

This screen made its premiere at the LA Auto Show and can be switched between portrait and landscape modes with the push of a button. However, the $68,889 Fisker Ocean Extreme is the only model to get this function.

Some form of sophisticated entertainment system will also be included in the Fisker Ocean. A Karaoke mode, like Tesla’s “Careoke,” has been hinted to by the manufacturer.


Fisker promises that the Ocean will be “the world’s most sustainable vehicle” due to its use of recycled materials. It remains to be seen whether or not this is genuine, but we can still expect an interior that is “100% vegan” and fashioned from recycled fishing nets, bottles, tires, and worn-out t-shirts.

Fisker Ocean: Battery and range

The battery pack for the Fisker Ocean is expected to be large, with a capacity of at least 80 kilowatt hours. A 350kW recharge on the Electrify America network may restore a 200-mile range in 30 minutes or less.

A similar lithium ion phosphate battery to Tesla’s low-range automobiles powers the entry-level Ocean Sport, which Fisker claims will have a range of 250 miles. Despite their low energy density, these batteries have a substantially lower cost and are more stable than the alternatives.


The Ocean Ultra and Ocean Extreme, on the other hand, will have distances of 340 and 350 miles. Lithium-manganese-cobalt-oxide batteries are used in these devices.

Additional 1,000 miles of range a year will be provided by the Ocean’s roof-mounted solar panels, which is an average of 2.7 miles per day. The amount you generate will, of course, be affected by the climate and weather conditions in your area. Because New Englanders don’t receive as much sun as Southern Californians.

In past interviews, Fisker has discussed its efforts to develop the next generation of electric vehicle batteries, known as solid state batteries. Assuming Fisker’s technology works, the battery could restore 500 miles of driving range in a single minute. However, don’t hold your breath for this to happen any time soon.


Fisker Ocean: Performance

The Fisker Ocean appears to have a decent amount of power for a vehicle of its size, at least according to the specifications published by the company. Both the two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions will be available on all vehicles.

This vehicle has 550 horsepower and can go from 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds. Even if it doesn’t set any records, that’s still an excellent time. As it stands, it’s only a few hundredths of a second faster than the Performance model Tesla Model Y.

The Ocean Ultra has 540 horsepower and a 0-60 pace of 3.9 seconds, while the Ocean Sport has 275 horsepower and a 0-60 time of 6.9 seconds.


The Ultra and Extreme will have two AWD motors, although the Ocean Sport just has one.

Fisker Ocean: Autonomous features

At this time, there are no known facts concerning the Fisker Ocean’s autonomous characteristics. However, given the prevalence of driver aid systems in electric vehicles, particularly high-end ones, some consideration should be given to including them.

Autonomous cruise control and blind spot detection are a given. We’d be shocked if it didn’t have some level of limited automated driving and lane changing assistance, too. That’s a tough order, and we shouldn’t expect anything close to driver-free autonomy. Particularly for less than $40,000,


The Future of Fisker Ocean

Every automaker, even luxury brands like Porsche and Bentley, appears to be eyeing the electric SUV market. Is Fisker, a relative newcomer, going to be able to hold its own against established names who have had decades to build their reputations? It’s not yet obvious what’s going on.

And until we have further information about the vehicle, we cannot make any firm statements. From what we can tell thus far, the Fisker Ocean appears to be an excellent choice. Is it long range? Check. Affordability? To be on the safe side, do a second check. Luxury? It appears to be so.

Throughout the year, keep an eye out for this vehicle. It will arrive on the market ahead of many other more well-known vehicles, given that it is scheduled to debut in late 2021 or early 2022. If the Ocean has what it takes, we’ll let you know!
