During the fourth quarter of 2021 in the United States, MediaTek will be the number one provider of chipsets for Android phones, according to a new IDC research. There, MediaTek has 48.1 percent of the market, while Qualcomm has 43.9 percent.
For IDC, the success of Samsung’s Galaxy A12 and Galaxy A32, as well as Motorolla’s G Pure and Dimensity powered carrier phones from T-Mobile and Boost mobile, provides a foundation for MediaTek’s rise to prominence in the smartphone market.
Although Counterpoint Research asserts that Qualcomm still retains a 55 percent share of Android phones in the United States, compared to 37 percent for MediaTek, its research, there is an opposing assertion.
For now, we can only speculate about how the two companies will do in the future, but MediaTek’s Dimensity 8000 series processors are expected to help it gain ground in the low and midrange Android market in the US and other countries. Via 1 • Via 2
