There might be a lot of competition for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4.
The Google Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch have both been leaked in tandem, offering us a sneak peek at what to expect when they are officially unveiled later this year.
Max Weinbach, writing for Android Police, claims that both devices have emerged in an undisclosed U.S. mobile carrier’s inventory management system under their codenames. This is where the specifications and colour information come from.
Start with the Pixel Watch, which has been given the pseudonym “Rohan” in the database. According to the source, this will come in grey, black, or gold and contain 32GB of storage. With that much storage, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and Apple Watch 7 are now both equipped with a 32GB memory pack. According to Weinbach’s sources, the carrier has only ever marketed cellular-connected watches, so a cellular version of the Pixel Watch appears plausible.
Pixel 6a or “Bluejay” will reportedly be available in black, white, or green with 128GB of internal storage as a standard option. While the Pixel 5a only came in black, this is the same amount of RAM as the Pixel 5a.
The fact that the Pixel 6a and the Pixel Watch are supposedly featured in this inventory system suggests that they are nearing their debut. It’s reasonable to expect that they’ll debut together as well.
We were expecting Google to unveil the Pixel 6a in August at the earliest. It introduced the Pixel 5a last year and the Pixel 4 in 2020 at that time. That may not be the case this year, as various speculations about the Pixel 6a and the upcoming Pixel Watch indicate that they will be released in May.
Google I/O 2022, which takes place in May each year, would be the most logical time for the release. While Android 13 and other software are likely to be the focus of this conference, it is not uncommon for Google to unveil hardware as well. Indeed, we learned about the Pixel 3a during an I/O, after all.
Rumors about the Pixel Watch’s battery life and wireless charging
On Twitter, Max Weinbach added a few additional tidbits about the Pixel Watch that made it seem even more intriguing.
He believes that the Pixel Watch will be powered by the same processor as the Samsung Galaxy Gear S4 and S5. That seems logical, considering the recent collaboration between Google and Samsung on wearables. The Pixel Watch, on the other hand, has a “Material You, better software, greater device compatibility, and more storage with a nicer design,” he claims.
Because the Pixel Stand 2 includes a smartwatch groove on its bottom lip, Weinbach suggests that it may also be used to charge the Pixel Watch. This is an amazing feature if the Watch can be charged with any wireless charger, without the need to purchase an expensive charging stand. Source
