Checkers and Rally’s History
Checkers and Rally’s began as different brands, as previously stated. Rally’s was the first to be established, with its first store opening in Louisville, Kentucky in 1985. Checkers followed quickly behind and was created in 1986 in Mobile, Alabama by Jim Mattei. Rally’s catered to the midwest, whereas Checkers catered to the south-east of the United States.
Both brands’ strategies were similar, with an emphasis on drive-thru, delectable, well-made items, and all at reasonable rates. During the first several years, both enterprises flourished steadily, proving to be a popular family choice.
