How to Change Themes on Windows 11

Themes allow you to instantly alter the appearance of Windows 11( Change Themes on Windows ) with a single click, changing backgrounds, colours, and audio all at once. Here’s how to customise your theme in Windows 11 or create a new one. The user interface in Windows 11 has been substantially redesigned, making it more configurable. However, when it comes to modifying the UI, the developer has modified the menu layout and choices available to Windows users. Despite these modifications, themes remain the simplest and most effective way to alter the appearance of your operating system’s interface.

To begin working with themes in Windows 11, open the Settings programme and navigate to the “Personalization” section. Right-click the desktop and choose “Personalize” to get there easily. The wallpaper, system noises, accent colour, and even the cursor may all be changed with a Windows theme. There are various standard themes included with the operating system, and more may be downloaded through the Microsoft Store.

Type settings in the search box

Step 2: Go to the Personalization section of the menu. You can also get to this menu by right-clicking on a free area of your desktop and selecting Personalize.

The theme will be applied as soon as you click on a thumbnail. Every thumbnail should have a white or black square in the bottom-right corner. These will show if a theme’s app backgrounds are dark or light. Furthermore, the accent colour for the theme is the colour of the line at the bottom of the square.

Go to the Personalization menu and select Themes for more customization options. This will enable you to develop a custom theme from scratch or load and change an existing one. You’ll be transported to a settings menu after clicking on Themes, where you may adjust anything from the background to the mouse cursor.

How to Change Themes on Windows 11

To begin working with themes in Windows 11, open the Settings programme and navigate to the “Personalization” section. Right-click the desktop and choose “Personalize” to get there easily.

When you first visit Windows Settings, you’ll be at the “Personalization” area. By selecting a thumbnail in the “Click a theme to apply” area towards the top of the window, you may rapidly switch to a different theme.

This is a convenient method to transition between, say, a light mode theme (with a light backdrop and light windows) and a dark mode theme (with dark colours).

In Windows 11 Personalization settings, click a theme thumbnail at the top to change themes quickly.

If you’d like to save a custom theme, see all your available themes, or get new themes, scroll down in Settings > Personalization and click “Themes.”

In Windows 11 Personalization settings, click "Themes."

A custom theme in Windows 11 is a mix of your desktop wallpaper, accent colour, dark or light mode, mouse cursor style, and sound scheme customisation choices. You may customise each of them in various parts of Settings and Control Panel, but Windows gives convenient connections to them all at the top of the Personalization > Themes page. To utilise them, go to the top of the window and choose “Background,” “Color,” “Sounds,” or “Mouse Cursor.” Each link will take you to the appropriate page in the Settings or Control Panel, where you may configure those settings.

Click a link near the top of the themes window to change mouse, sound, color, or background settings.

If you have previously set a custom desktop background in Windows Settings or modified your sound scheme, accent color, or mouse cursor style, you’ll have the option to save your personalization settings as a custom theme in Personalization > Themes. To do so, click the “Save” button located just below summary area.

Click "Save" to save your current personalization settings as a custom theme.

In a pop-up box after selecting “Save,” Windows will ask you to name the theme. Click “Save” once you’ve typed in the name. Then, in the area below, your custom theme will show in the list of themes.

Expand the “Current Theme” menu (if it isn’t already open) in that area by clicking it. Below that, in a grid, you’ll find thumbnails of each possible theme. Each thumbnail contains a glimpse of the desktop picture, highlight colour, and window colour for that theme (dark or light). To change themes, simply click any of the thumbnails, and the theme will be changed immediately.

Click a theme thumbail to switch to it.

To install new themes from the Microsoft Store, click the “Browse Themes” button located below the theme thumbnail section.

Click "Browse Themes."

The Microsoft Store app will open to its “Themes” section. Browse to any theme you’re interested in. Many of the them are available for no charge. If you want to download a free theme to your PC, click the “Free” button located under the theme’s name.
