It’s possible that this may be a new Apple Car manufacturing partner.
According to a recent announcement, one of Apple’s main supply chain partners is entering the electric vehicle sector.
China’s Luxshare Precision Industry has formed a joint venture with Chery to research and produce electric cars, as reported by Nikkei Asia. As Apple’s current Airpods manufacturer, the business plans to enter the electric vehicle industry within three months.
According to previously revealed plans, Chery Automobile electric car unit Chery New Energy would control the remaining 70% of the new firm, with Luxshare owning the other 30%. The company is expected to be up and running in the next three months, with a total investment of $267 million. Luxshare’s name will not appear on any of its cars.
Wang Laichun, Luxshare’s chairman, stated Sunday that the company would not become an automaker. There is a plan to collaborate with Chery New Energy on the development of a service for constructing high-quality automobiles, she added.
In addition to Luxshare’s role as a main AirPods supplier, the firm started producing iPhones in 2021 and is now constructing a new factory to strengthen its relationship with Apple.
Apple Car, the company’s own self-driving electric car, has long been reported to be in the works at Apple. The automobile is expected to be unveiled as early as 2025, and Apple has been looking for supply chain partners to assist in the manufacturing of the vehicle’s components and assembly.
Possibly, Luxshare might be one of them. It’s just a matter of time until it becomes a household name.
