The iPhone 6 Plus was added to Apple’s list of outdated and antique items today, since it has been more than five years since the handset was last sold. Vintage Product
The iPhone 6 Plus was introduced in September 2014 together with the iPhone 6, and it was eventually phased out in September 2016 in favour of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The iPhone 6 was available for purchase for a longer length of time than the iPhone 6 Plus, hence it is not currently listed as a vintage phone.
That’s why the iPhone 6 won’t be considered antique for another two years or so: Apple reintroduced the iPhone 6 in 2017 as a midrange iPhone, and the device remained available for purchase until September 2018.
With the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, Apple made history by introducing Apple Pay and offering a variety of iPhone sizes for the first time in the company’s history. Since the debut of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Apple has maintained its multi-size release strategy.
More than five years ago and fewer than seven years ago, Apple discontinued providing these goods for sale. Apple offers support and components for older devices for up to seven years, or as long as the law requires, although repairs are contingent on the availability of replacement parts.
With the release of iOS 13 in 2019, Apple discontinued supporting the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus with software upgrades.
