Here’s how a flip phone version of the iPhone may appear.
Flip is the moniker Apple Watchers have given to the rumoured foldable iPhone, and we know two things about it. According to patents submitted by the business, it is evident that Apple is interested in producing a gadget like this. There are two reasons why the foldable iPhone is not expected before 2023.
So there’s a lot of room for creative interpretation there. As a result, there have been a number of inventive iPhone Flip idea designs popping up on the internet.
Antonio De Rosa, a designer, recently tweeted a series of folding iPhone renderings. If you’re curious in what an iPhone Flip may look like in 2023 or 2024, these photographs are worth a look, as they’ve been making the rounds on rumour sites for a few weeks now.
De Rosa’s folding iPhone designs have received a lot of attention, and it’s easy to understand why. By dubbed the iPhone Air, the flipphone-style shape is evocative to Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 3 while preserving the distinctive aesthetic of an iPhone..
Apple’s iPhone Air folds into a pocket-sized gadget in De Rosa’s concept. Notifications are shown on the phone’s outside display, much as on the Galaxy Z Flip. On the other side of the screen, you’ll find a triple camera setup similar to the one on the iPhone 13 Pro.
That’s not the only thing that’s based on Apple’s current iPhone in terms of design. The edges of the foldable iPhone are similar to the design of Apple’s iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models. Apple, not you or I, would have to cope with the added size of a folded-up iPhone. That’s Apple’s issue.
A second reported Apple design aspect is seen in De Rosa’s iPhone Air mockup. The notch on newer iPhones is absent from the inner display. Cutouts in the form of pills and rounds have taken their place. If Apple decides to remove the iPhone’s notch, this is what the iPhone 14 may look like.
The fact that so little is known about Apple’s folding phone specifications may be an indication of the project’s early stages. For the first time, a tablet with an 8-inch screen has been rumoured by Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at Piper Jaffray. There’s still a lot of uncertainty, though, considering how far away the estimated release date of a foldable phone is.
Late to the foldable game, Apple would have to compete with its main competitor Samsung and other foldable phone producers such as LG. Although Apple is seldom the first to enter a market, it usually does so with a better product after others have already built the basis for the competition. Whether or whether history repeats itself with an iPhone Flip, we’ll have to wait and watch.
