It was just a matter of time until Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy Book2 Pro notebooks. The Galaxy Book2 Pro and the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360, two laptops that come in two sizes, were announced only days before the start of MWC 2022 in Barcelona.
First, there’s a laptop with an AMOLED display and compatibility for the S Pen; second, there’s a convertible tablet with a hinge that can be used either standing up or lying on the keyboard.
Our first impressions of these potential notebooks are based on some time spent with them.
Design
These laptops are very light and small, and Samsung is quite pleased with the results. We can confirm that the 13.3″ model’s weight of slightly over 1 kg (1040 grammes) feels significantly lighter. In comparison to other laptops of its size, the 15.6-inch model is also quite light. They done an excellent job of creating a laptop that can be used anywhere.
Even though thin laptops are often associated with poor battery life, Samsung’s 13.3″ Galaxy Books and 15.6″ Galaxy Books have 63 Wh batteries, compared to the 15.6″ model’s 68 Wh battery. When we spoke to officials at Samsung’s corporate headquarters, they assured us that the battery would last for 21 hours of movie playing.
With the brightness set to 150 nits, this value was attained. However, the AMOLED display is bright enough and has excellent contrast, so this should not be a problem in real life.
USB-C and Thunderbolt 4 ports are located on the left-hand side of the laptops of Samsung. One USB-C port and an SD card reader may be found on the right. The charging port should have been placed above the ordinary USB port, although it doesn’t affect the functionality of the other connections.
The power button has a fingerprint scanner built in. For security purposes, Samsung uses a separate chip, which means that the fingerprint is not saved elsewhere in the laptop’s memory.
Our Samsung representatives verified that the Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 retail packaging would include the S Pen. Despite the fact that it lacks Bluetooth functionality, this pen currently performs quicker and more smoothly than any other on the market. It’s a great keyboard with little travel and a snappy feel.
Performance and hardware
Optimized Video Call is a new feature from Samsung. Zoom, Microsoft Teams, WeChat, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp are all supported by AI Noise Cancellation. That the video automatically zooms to the speaker when there are two or more persons in a meeting was a big plus for us.
However, there aren’t many real-world examples of how this technology may be put to use. It’s quite uncommon, unless you’re having a family gathering, to have two individuals sit on one side of the table during a meeting. Face zoom only works without masks, therefore having two persons who aren’t close in proximity is still discouraged. However, the functionality does exist and is functional in the real world, so it has the potential to enhance group meetings even more.
The camera on the Galaxy Book has also been enhanced, with a 1080p resolution and an 87-degree field of view.
While Samsung and Microsoft have been working together for some time to link mobile phones to Windows, there is now an easy option for instant connecting with One UI 4 on mobile. As long as you don’t mind surfing on your phone, dragging and dropping from a laptop to a Galaxy flagship phone is an excellent way to see alerts and make a short response.
If you don’t already have one in your house, get one. As a secondary display, we had a Galaxy Tab S8 in our hands next to the Galaxy Book2 Pro. This combination of Win+P allows users to drag and drop windows, make a copy of the screen, or utilise a second monitor.
The Galaxy Book2 Pro 360, with its S Pen and the ability to stand, has the potential to be a terrific tool for drawing and doodles. While we were impressed by the flexibility, the most stable posture was exceedingly inconvenient for our wrists over time. Our preferred method of using it is to utilise it as a display while eating or doing anything else that does not need us to touch it (like following recipes, for example).
The 12th generation Intel i5 and i7 CPUs were launched in the Galaxy Book2 Pro notebooks. We had hoped for it, but we’ll have to wait a little longer for it to become available. We’ll have to wait and watch how Samsung deals with any chip shortages, and the present geopolitical environment isn’t helping.
outline
The new Samsung Galaxy Book2 Pro laptops don’t seem to have any major flaws when taken as a whole. They’re great for what they are: portable gadgets that let you work from almost anywhere, even if your job requires some minor graphic or video editing.
Starting at $1,050 (and $1,250 for the 360), we think that users will prefer these gadgets to those made by rivals. If you’re looking to buy a laptop in 2022, this is a nice option to consider. Source
