PlayStation Plus members can look forward to outlaws, deckbuilding, and a sponge in April’s offering.
In April, PlayStation Plus subscribers will be able to play a trio of titles, all of which will be available for both PS4 and PS5. However, some bad news has been discreetly disclosed concerning the PlayStation Plus Collection.
In the coming weeks, expect to see Hood: Outlaws and Legends, Slay the Spire, and SpongeBob SquarePants Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated among the many other titles on offer. Members of PlayStation Plus will be able to download all three games for free on PS5 and PS4. As long as you have a valid PlayStation Plus membership, you will be able to download these titles at any time between April 5 and May 2.
Hood: Outlaws and Legends is the top of the bill. With up to three other players, you’ll try to carry off daring heists while using a wide range of special talents and skills. The advent of a rival gang complicates your aim of stealing as much money as possible. There are two things you’ll need in order to pull off a successful heist: good coordination and an ability for stealth.
Slay the Spire may be disregarded by some, but don’t make the mistake of doing so. When it was published on PC in 2019, this fantasy deckbuilder received an astounding 89 on Metacritic, making it a fan favourite. A card game and rougelike hybrid, Slay the Spire allows you to create your own custom deck from a plethora of cards and then face off against difficult opponents in beautifully animated combat.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated is the last game in the lineup. Play as SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy to foil Plankton’s diabolical plot to invade Bikini Bottom with his army of robots in this full-scale version of the famous 2003 platformer. If you’re a fan of the Nickelodeon cartoon series, you’ll love this family-friendly adventure.
For PlayStation Plus members, it’s not all good news
The PlayStation Plus lineup for April has also included the news that Persona 5 would be withdrawn from the collection on May 11.
As a PlayStation Plus member, you get access to a library of 20 high-quality games that are always accessible to you. Heavy hitters like God of War, Fallout 4, and The Last of Us Remastered are part of the current collection available for download. There haven’t been any new games added to the PS5’s library since the system was first released, therefore the library has been stagnant.
This is the first time a game has been removed from the collection, and Sony has made no mention of replacing it with anything else. Existing PlayStation Plus users may extend their access to the game until its scheduled removal date by adding it to their library before May 11 if they choose to do so.
There are almost 100 hours of material in Persona 5’s engaging story-driven campaign, therefore we highly advise you to play it. However, it’s possible its disappearance from the PlayStation Plus Collection is just an indicator it may be replaced with something new as time goes on.
