WhatsApp voice messaging tipped to get a major upgrade

WhatsApp’s new audio messaging feature is a huge improvement over the previous version.

Big modifications to WhatsApp’s voice-recording feature are expected to roll out in the next several weeks, according to the firm. And the goal is to make recording and listening to voice communications more flexible.

To begin with, the recording interface seems to be becoming much more comprehensive. Soon, instead of seeing only a timer and an indicator for a microphone, you’ll see the waveform of your recording.

In addition, the record button will now include a pause function. Using this feature will allow you to pause the recording if you lose your line of thought or there is a loud noise nearby, and then resume it when you’re ready.

You can no longer transmit messages after you release the record button. Before sending, you have the option to listen to your message again or just erase it and start again.

If you’ve ever wanted to listen to a voice message and then go to another conversation without halting playing, WhatsApp now lets you do just that. In order to go through your messages quicker, you may increase the playing speed to 1.5x or 2x its original value by using the speed slider.

Even better, WhatsApp will keep track of where you left off, so you don’t have to start over from the beginning each time you listen to a message.

It’s unclear when you’ll be able to test out the new voice message capabilities, but we’re confident that it won’t be too long until they’re available to you.
