It’s been said that Apple would release three new Watch models in the near future, each with a different feature set, but the generational improvements may not include significant modifications to the sensors, and the Apple Watch Series 3 might be retired.
It is predicted that the Apple Watch Series 8 generation would contain several design modifications and may involve more than one model being introduced in 2022. Apple sent an email on Sunday with further information on upcoming product releases and changes that may be made.
When it comes to Apple Watch, Mark Gurman’s “Power On” weekly for Bloomberg predicts that 2022 will be “the largest year in Apple Watch history.” Gurman expects the Apple Watch Series 8 to be released, an improved Apple Watch SE, and a “Apple Watch focused toward extreme sports.”
Rumors and conjecture about three models have been floating around for some time, including Ming-Chi Kuo’s message to investors concerning a “extreme sports variant.”
With the exception of body temperature sensors, Gurman does not foresee “any substantial new health sensors” in 2022. The new versions will, however, have speedier CPUs and “significant upgrades to activity monitoring,” according to the CEO.
It is possible, according to Gurman, that the Apple Watch Series 3 “may finally be decommissioned.” The cause for the retirement is unknown.
Series 3 is a cheaper entry-level alternative alongside the more expensive Series 7 and SE models. It’s possible that Apple may no longer sell the Series 3, which would force new buyers to purchase the SE model as their first smartphone. source
