MediaTek has quietly introduced the Dimensity 1300 chipset, which is likely to make its debut on the OnePlus Nord 2T and Nord 3 smartphones in the coming months.
Four Cortex-A78 cores (one Ultra and three Super) and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores (scaling up to 2GHz) form an octa-core CPU using TSMC’s 6nm technology. A 9-core Arm Mali-G77 MC9 graphics processor powers the graphics card’s visual effects.
Arm Cortex-A78 processors power the Dimensity 1300’s octacore CPU, including a ‘ultra-core’ working at 3GHz. The Dimensity 1300 is an extraordinarily efficient chip design for longer daily battery life built utilising the TSMC N6 (6nm-class) fabrication process.
Displays with a resolution of up to 2520x1080px or FullHD+ may run at a refresh rate of up to 168Hz on the Dimensity 1300. The processor may be paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR4x RAM. Storage on the Dimensity 1300 is of the UFS 3.1 kind.
The ISP is capable of recording video in 4K HDR and multi-person portrait mode with up to 200MP cameras. For quicker 4K streaming, there is hardware-accelerated AV1 decoding.
Although MediaTek hasn’t said which handsets would be the first to include the Dimensity 1300, it is expected that the OnePlus Nord 3 will be one of them. Qualcomm’s most powerful 7-series processor, the Snapdragon 778G, should be on par with the Dimensity 1300’s performance.
