The periscope camera and the iPhone 15 are expected to be released in 2023, according to reports.

iPhone 14 Pro leaks and rumours — what we know

According to reports, Apple’s rumoured iPhone 14 is undergoing engineering validation testing as it comes closer to a fall debut. In this scenario, the lack of a periscope lens on the future phone is the issue at hand.

Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu made the claim in a research note viewed by 9to5Mac. A periscope lens is not expected to be used for the telephoto lens on the iPhone 14, according to Pu. A periscope lens was previously rumoured for the iPhone 14’s camera, but it has already been disproved.

For the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max variants, Pu feels a periscope lens is more plausible. Ming-Chi Kuo, another Apple expert, predicted the same thing.

Like conventional cameras, the periscope lenses seen on smartphones like the Huawei P40 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra don’t protrude from the body; instead, they use inside space to do their magic. Peripheral lenses, on the other hand, have the sensor oriented vertically and employ prisms to bend light to generate the same effect as classic camera lenses.

Other aspects of the iPhone 14 Pro models’ cameras should be improved. A 48MP primary camera has been rumoured, and Pu repeats this allegation in his latest report. Leaked schematics have indicated a bigger camera module than what we’ve seen on the current iPhone because of the larger sensor.

In addition to the speculated iPhone 14 Max, Pu’s research memo mentions a “bigger screen (entry model).” The A16 chip, which will Apple used in the iPhone 14 Pro versions, will have a bigger die size than the A15 chip, according to Pu. This is despite the fact that the A16 chip was produced using a 4nm technology.

The current coronavirus outbreak in Shenzhen, where the iPhone is built, hasn’t slowed down Apple’s development on the iPhone 14, as the future phone has passed through the engineering validation process, according to Pu’s report.
