The design and specifications of the iPhone 14 line-up are said to have been finalised, with Apple apparently conducting testing on its next-generation smartphone.

An analyst at Haitong International Securities, Jeff Pu, claims that Apple is now undertaking engineering validation testing on the iPhone 14, based on information from his supply chain sources, according to a recent briefing note viewed by 9to5Mac. These EVTs are performed on the initial engineering prototype of new phones and suggest that the final specifications and design of the iPhone 14 have now been chosen.

Additionally, Pu said that the recent lockdown in Shenzhen, which was enforced after an increase in COVID-19 instances, has had no impact on Apple’s testing efforts. The last time we heard about this procedure was back in February, when Apple was said to have started making iPhone 14 test devices.

In light of these new testing, let’s take another look at some of the most widely speculated upgrades for the iPhone 14. A redesigned camera bump design, a new 6.7-inch Max version to replace the existing 5.4-inch iPhone 13 small, and an A15 CPU that’s similar to the present A15 chip from the iPhone 13 but with maybe additional RAM might be expected in the ordinary iPhone 14 model.

Face ID and the selfie camera sensors are expected to be housed in pill or punch-hole cutouts, rather than Apple’s distinctive notch, on the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, while the A16 processor is expected to be upgraded in the latter model.

According to Pu, he doesn’t anticipate the iPhone 13’s cost to be affected by these modifications. Since this is a new model, it doesn’t answer the question of how much Apple will charge for the iPhone 14 Max. Our best estimate is that the 6.1-inch iPhone 7 costs $799, while the 6.1-inch iPhone 7 Pro costs $999.

Even though Apple’s iPhone 14 lineup is now being tested, we don’t anticipate to see the new models until the company’s customary September product announcement event.
