Apple has confirmed that it no longer includes free EarPods with every iPhone sold in France, claiming the environmental benefits of having a slimmer iPhone package due to the lack of a charger and earbuds.
According to an update on Apple’s French website, EarPods will no longer be supplied in the package with any of its iPhones. Apple currently only sells the iPhone and a USB-C to Lightning connection.
Earlier this month, French carriers announced that from January 24, Apple will no longer provide EarPods in the package with iPhones sold in France. Apple was legally compelled to put EarPods in the package under former French law, based on the precautionary principle, because the effects of exposing growing brains to electromagnetic radiation are not well understood.
