Displays a variety of foldable at MWC 2022 from TCL

TCL showcased a slew of new smartphones and tablets at MWC 2022, but it also found time to show off a few foldable prototype devices. We came within a few feet of two of the idea gadgets, but were unable to grasp them. There will probably be no consumer versions of these ideas anytime soon, but TCL is working hard to make its first foldable smartphone accessible commercially at a reasonable price.

TCL Ultra Flex 360-Degree Rotation

The 360-degree Ultra Flex is the first foldable idea from TCL that we’ve seen. With the 360-degree hinge mechanism, the gadget may be closed with the screen either on the inside or outside, exactly like certain 2-in-1 laptops.

As a result, you can hold the device up like a laptop or completely spread its display over the body to have a tablet-like experience at your fingertips at all times. TCL revealed that the 8-inch AMOLED display has a resolution of 2480 x 1860 pixels and can be used with a pen.

Seeing this idea in action would be intriguing, but TCL definitely won’t release this particular form factor on the market just yet because of the durability concerns. Additional specifications were not given.

A fold-and-roll TCL device

It’s TCL’s concept of a smartphone with two methods to expand its display, Fold n Roll. Not only can it fold, but the left half of the display panel can roll out horizontally to increase the amount of screen real estate.

With the folding parts of the 6.87-inch smartphone screen tucked in, you get three settings. One mode is an 8.85-inch phablet with the screen folded out, while the other is a full 10-inch tablet with the rollable bit extended. TCL introduced the Fold n Roll in April of last year and demonstrated a functional prototype in December of the same year.

Let me know what you think. Do you prefer any of these design concepts to the ones already on the market? Source
