Two weeks after the debut of macOS Monterey 12.2, Apple has published macOS Monterey 12.2.1, a small bug patch update.
Using the Software Update section of System Preferences, all eligible Macs may download the macOS Monterey 12.2.1 update.
MacOS Monterey 12.2.1 fixes a fault that was causing Bluetooth devices connected to Macs to waste an excessive amount of battery life, according to the release notes.
Apple’s MacRumors blog saw an increase in complaints about energy consumption during sleep mode after the release of the MacOS Monterey 12.2 update in late January. The problem seemed to be Bluetooth gadgets that regularly woke up Macs they were linked to.
There have been reports of customers seeing battery drains as low as 0% overnight after downloading the macOS 12.2 update on both Intel and Apple silicon-based Macs. When Bluetooth was turned off or Bluetooth gadgets were detached from the Mac, the issue was resolved, however this was not the most convenient method for consumers to use.
Mac customers will no longer have to wait for the public release of macOS Monterey 12.3 to remedy their Bluetooth battery drain concerns, since Apple fixed the issue in yesterday’s beta 2 of macOS Monterey 12.3.
A WebKit flaw that might enable maliciously designed web content to lead to arbitrary code execution has been fixed in macOS Monterey 12.2.1. As soon as possible, Mac users should download the latest software from Apple, which says it is aware of a report that the flaw has been exploited.
Lastly, Safari 15.3 has been updated for users of macOS Big Sur and Catalina, likely to address the same WebKit issue resolved in Mac OS Monterey 12.2.1.
