A Ted Lasso service in 2022? Not likely, if Apple TV Plus has anything to do with it. It’s been a great start to the year for the underappreciated streaming platform.

The Afterparty and Severance, as well as CODA, the Oscar-winning original film, have wowed. This new must-see series on Apple TV Plus shows that the service isn’t slowing down either.

Pachinko, a new drama series for Apple TV Plus, debuted this week. Based on the New York Times best-selling book, it follows a Korean family for four generations as they leave their nation and travel to Japan in the hope of a better life.. It was produced by Soo Hugh and stars Yuh-Jung Youn, Lee Min-ho, Jin Ha and Soji Arai as Pachinko.

Last Monday, Apple TV Plus released the first three episodes of the eight-episode drama series. Pachinko has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, with Rotten Tomatoes giving it a perfect score of 98 percent. “Masterpiece” and “strong claim for most rewarding TV of the year so far” are just two of the many accolades heaped on the series by leading reviewers.

The first three episodes of the show were met with a great reception from the audience. Pachinko’s audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes now stands at 93 percent, while its IMDb rating is similarly high at 8.5 out of 10. (IMDb scores are generally harsher than RT). As the first season progresses, each episode has received greater ratings than the previous one, indicating that the programme is just growing better.

As a result of its low $5 monthly charge, we’ve always included Apple TV Plus in our list of the top streaming services. But the service is now beginning to appear like a legitimate competitor. If Apple TV Plus continues to add high-quality programming into 2022, we may have to reorder our list. Apple TV Plus isn’t messing around this year, so Netflix, Disney Plus, and HBO Max best watch their backs.
