Apple Music limits its free trial duration from 3 months to 1 month

As of today, the free trial period for Apple Music subscribers has been reduced from three months to only one month. This means you have less time to assess whether or not the music streaming service is right for you.

As of yet, Apple hasn’t disclosed this change, but Mac Otakara in Japan has. The free trial time hasn’t changed since Apple Music debuted in June 2015 as a competitor to Spotify.

Pricing for the service remains intact, with a subscription cost of $9.99 for the full Apple Music experience and $4.99 for the recently-launched Siri-controlled Apple Music Voice plan. This latter option is only available to those who already have an Apple Music subscription.

Apple Music: Complete Guide

More than 75 million songs are available via Apple Music, according to the company. All of the content may be streamed or downloaded to be played offline, and there are also song and genre-based radio stations accessible.

Apple Music is compatible with your current iCloud Music Library, allowing you to store both your Apple Music subscriptions and music you’ve bought on iTunes in the same place.

With Apple Music, Apple has emphasised human curation above the other streaming services. While certain playlists on Apple Music are generated automatically, the majority of the material that is presented there is selected by editors at Apple Music.

As part of the “For You” page, Apple provides daily-updated customised playlists, such as “favourites,” “relax,” “friends,” “new music,” and other genre-specific collections of music.

It’s also common for Apple Music to provide exclusive album releases, documentaries, and music videos to entice new customers.

Apple Music’s 24-hour live radio programme, Beats 1, is also a standout feature. Special shows, some of which were produced by artists, are part of the mix.

6-month offer

As previously, you can only use one Apple ID to sign up for a free trial of Apple Music; after that, you’ll either have to start paying for the service or give up.

If you’re a new member, you may receive six months of Apple Music for free if you purchase select Apple audio equipment, including AirPods, Beats headphones, and the HomePod Mini.

There are more than 150 countries where Apple Music is offered, so it seems that the adjustment applies to them all. Other music streaming services have a similar one-month free trial period, but some of them also offer a free tier.

In my opinion, Apple Music should include a free tier.

Apple Music, like other music streaming services, needs to work hard to keep consumers interested in their offerings. There are more ways than ever to access the music you love, from purchasing vinyl albums to asking your Amazon Echo speaker what you want to hear.

Apple, on the other hand, does not provide a free trial like other of its rivals, such as Spotify, Deezer, and YouTube Music. If you don’t mind adverts and restricted playlist and offline sync functionality, you can utilise other free levels without spending a dime.

There are no guarantees that these free options would lead to full subscriptions, but Apple could probably get a lot more people on board with an endlessly accessible version of Apple Music.

However, it is important to note that Apple has a well-established digital music business, which may explain why the company doesn’t expect a fully free tier to bring in many new customers: many prospective customers already have their own curated digital music collections.
