Book of Boba Fett critics have been outspoken in their disapproval of the work. In the eyes of some, the programme destroys the character by not portraying him as a violent, bounty-hunting, and savage bounty chaser. Boba’s mystery is shattered when he is given more than a few minutes of screen time.
In spite of all I’ve said in favour of Boba Fett’s eponymous TV programme, it’s not flawless. It’s impossible to dispute that the programme has its share of problems. Most importantly, though, The Mandalorian, the programme that reintroduced Boba Fett to public consciousness, continues to cast a long shadow over the show.
There are spoilers ahead for the next two episodes of The Book of Boba Fett, Episodes 5 and 6. The Book of Boba Fett doesn’t even seem to want to stand on its own, based on the past two episodes.
Book of Boba Fett
Viewing The Book of Boba Fett has begun to seem like a bait-and-switch. It’s not entirely unreasonable for viewers to expect every episode to include Boba Fett prominently, because the book is named “The Book” and not “The Synopsis of Boba Fett.” When it comes to “From the Desert Comes a Stranger,” “The Mandalorian,” Jon Favreau, along with co-writer and episode director Dave Filoni, once again sidelines its titular antihero to continue the narrative of The Mandalorian.
The Book of Boba Fett is an American space western television series produced by Jon Favreau for the Disney+ streaming service. It is set in the universe of the Star Wars franchise. A Star Wars film, it takes place after the events of The Return of the Jedi and is a continuation of the saga (1983). In this spin-off from the television series The Mandalorian, the criminal lord and bounty hunter Boba Fett appears, as well as other characters from the Star Wars franchise and other works of fiction. The Book of Boba Fett appears alongside The Mandalorian and its other spin-off, Ahsoka, in the Star Wars universe, among other things.
As the titular character, Temuera Morrison is played by Ming-Na Wen, with Pedro Pascal and Pedro Pascal also appearing. All of the actors are reprising their roles from The Mandalorian and previous Star Wars films and television shows. Prior to favouring streaming series like as The Mandalorian above standalone Star Wars films, many efforts were made to make a single Star Wars feature focusing on Boba Fett. It was originally revealed that a prospective spin-off series was in the works in November 2020, and it was formally confirmed in December of same year. Filming has already started at that time and will continue until June 2021.

During the first four episodes of “The Book of Boba Fett,” the notorious bounty hunter’s whereabouts and intentions to succeed Jabba the Hutt were examined in great detail.
On the other hand, Episode 5 of The Mandalorian is merely another episode of the show, focusing on Din Djarin’s journey after he gave up Grogu. During this episode, we learn more about the green Yoda-like alien, as well as a tiny Tatooine-based storyline that progresses a little bit.

In the Book of Boba Fett, Din Djarin’s writing might seem like a ghostwriter
No offence intended to Grogu or The Mandalorian (the show). There is nothing wrong with expecting a programme about Boba Fett to focus on him, but it isn’t unrealistic to anticipate that it would. It’s not from The Mandalorian: The Last Stand (season 2).
If Lucasfilm truly wanted to capture Mando and Grogu’s shenanigans without consuming season 3, they could have made a few of specials. Even if it meant that Boba Fett had a lower number of episodes, it wouldn’t have been a big deal.
Mandalorian binge fans won’t have to flip to another programme to catch the whole plot if the two episodes had been maintained separate and unique at the very least.
It’s not like Boba Fett has a lack of tales to tell. For decades, the bounty hunter has been a recurring character in the Star Wars saga’s canonical canon, appearing in scores of novels, comics, and games.
That’s not what happened in Book of Boba Fett, which swiftly shifted from retelling Boba Fett’s post-sarlacc past to abandoning stretching out the episode count with superfluous fluff in anticipation of a major clash.
In his own programme, Boba Fett is seen as a pawn
While anime adaptations must slow down since they have caught up to the original material, this seems more like Lucasfilm turning Boba Fett into an extra in his own TV show than anything else. So to speak, Mando’s Mario’s Luigi.
However, Lucasfilm is refusing to allow Boba Fett to escape the shadow cast by the television series that resurrected him.
It’s true that Mandalorian was the first live action Star Wars TV programme, which proved to be a huge success and inspired at least two spin-offs—and potentially three, depending on what Rangers of the New Republic ends up becoming. But if Lucasfilm continues to force further connections to the epic exploits of Mando, such programmes will not live long..
The inclusion of Din Djarin in the Book of Boba Fett isn’t a tremendous leap. While bounty hunters are hired by criminals, it is not uncommon for them to be hired by ne’er-do-wells as well. However, this is Boba’s narrative, not his. Let the original Mandalorian take care of business if he’s going to turn up.
We’ll simply have to wait and see what happens in the finale. In addition to offering Boba an opportunity to participate in some real action, the performance also serves as a reminder that this is his show, not a distraction for Mando and Grogu. Or then, it’s just another optional side quest on television.
