Top 8 Ways to Fix WhatsApp Not Backing Up to iCloud
To resolve the iPhone WhatsApp backup stuck issue, navigate to iCloud Settings > Storage > Backup and delete any existing backups. Now, relaunch WhatsApp and attempt to take another backup of your data.
1. CHECK ICLOUD STORAGE
WhatsApp and Google have agreed to exclude WhatsApp chat backups from the Google Drive default storage. This means that your 5GB-6GB WhatsApp chat backup will not be counted against your Google Drive base storage.
There is no such agreement between the company and Apple. Every MB of WhatsApp data is counted in the iCloud Storage.
To begin with, the iCloud storage is limited to 5GB. If you don’t have enough iCloud storage, you might need to upgrade to one of the iCloud+ plans.
Aside from more storage space, you also get privacy features like Hide my email and Private Relay.
Follow the steps below to determine how much data WhatsApp will require to complete the backup process.
Step 1: Open WhatsApp on iPhone.
Step 2: Go to Settings and open the Chats menu.
Step 3: Select Chat Backup.
Step 4: Check the total WhatsApp backup size from the following menu.
Open iPhone Settings and go to the profile menu. Make sure you have enough iCloud space to backup WhatsApp data to the cloud.
2. ENABLE WHATSAPP IN ICLOUD BACKUP
This is ideal for restoring the entire iCloud backup of an iPhone. You must enable WhatsApp for iCloud in order for the service to back up the IM app as well as other app data.

Step 2: Go to the profile menu and select iCloud.
Step 3: Scroll down and enable WhatsApp toggle for iCloud.

In our case, the backup size was around 4.15 GB without videos. When enabled videos, the size got increased to 6.5 GB.
