According to Deadline, Apple CEO Tim Cook has registered to attend this year’s Sun Valley Conference, which gets underway on Wednesday in the resort town of Sun Valley, Idaho. The gathering, often known as “summer camp for billionaires,” gives internet and media tycoons the opportunity to negotiate partnerships between recreational pursuits like golf and whitewater rafting.
Cook has frequently joined Apple’s services president Eddy Cue at the retreat over the years, but it is not yet known if Cook will go this year. Although Apple has always kept its discussions under wraps, the conference gives the company a chance to sign media deals for services like Apple TV+.
According to the source, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Andy Jassy, and Sundar Pichai of Alphabet are among the other tech CEOs who were invited this year.
The conference, which is organized by investment bank Allen & Company, has sparked a number of significant media industry transactions, from Disney’s 1995 acquisition of ABC to Jeff Bezos’ 2013 purchase of The Washington Post. According to reports, the program this year runs from July 5 through July 9, with private sessions starting on July 6.
