According to Bloomberg’s dependable Mark Gurman, the next Apple Watch Series 8 will be able to tell a wearer if it suspects they have a fever because of a higher than usual body temperature.
If the new body temperature sensor passes Apple’s internal testing, Gurman claims that the Apple Watch Series 8 will include one in his most recent Power On newsletter.
However, Gurman adds that he thinks the sensor will work with both the ordinary Series 8 and a brand-new “rugged variant” made for athletes. The Apple Watch will not provide users with a direct readout of their current body temperature, unlike a conventional specialized thermometer, but will instead immediately inform users if it thinks they are feverish.
In this year’s Apple Watch, new health-tracking features are anticipated. I stated in April that, if the feature passes internal testing, Apple plans to include body-temperature detection in its Series 8 model. I now think the function will be available on both the regular Apple Watch Series 8 and a new robust model targeted at athletes who participate in extreme activities.
Gurman said in January that the Apple Watch Series 8’s body temperature sensor’s internal communication had slowed down. Since then, Apple’s passion for the feature appears to have grown, accelerating development. With the blood oxygen sensor in the Apple Watch Series 6, Apple has most recently added new sensors and health features to the Apple Watch.
The Apple Watch Series 8 is anticipated to retain the same look of the Apple Watch Series 7, with the same chipset as the Series 6 and 7. It will also reportedly feature a new body temperature sensor. Gurman stated today that the more expensive variants of the Apple Watch Series 8 may come with upgraded displays.
