To be released in the first half of 2025, the next-generation AR/VR headset from Apple is expected to have a higher-end configuration as well as an entry-level model, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Second-generation Apple AR/VR may include high-end and more affordable models, which are expected to be released in 1H25, and component suppliers will begin shipping in 2H24, according to Kuo’s Medium blog post. Apple’s second-generation AR/MR product segmentation strategy and ecosystem may help the company’s AR/MR shipments reach 10 million units as early as 2025 or 2026.

According to Kuo’s prior reports, Apple wants to conduct a special event in January of 2023 to show off its first AR/MR headset. This will be Apple’s first headset, and it’s expected to be costly. According to the analyst, a new, more affordable headset option would help Apple make its headset more mainstream and increase overall shipments to 10 million by 2025 or 2026.
