In the most recent Xbox Series X update, the next-generation system will be able to remap its Share button.
The little oval-shaped button between the d-pad and the left thumbstick, known as the “share” button, is presently reserved only for taking screenshots and recording videos. In spite of the fact that this feature is beneficial, not all Xbox players are interested in sharing gameplay video or images with the rest of the world.
Xbox Alpha Insiders are now testing the ability to alter the functionality of the Share button. In the preview software, console owners may now remap the button to do a variety of tasks, such as displaying accomplishments, activating the voice-chat tab, and controlling media playback.
In order to use this new remapping capability, Xbox Alpha Insiders will need to download the newest controller firmware. The option to remap the share button should appear in the Xbox Accessories app when your controller has been updated.
The Share button may also be pressed quickly or held for a longer period of time to perform a variety of actions. Each player profile on your console may have its own unique set of actions assigned to the button.
Xbox Insiders will test this functionality extensively before it is made available to the whole public. Non-Insiders won’t have access to it for at least a few weeks after it becomes accessible to everyone.
In the meanwhile, if you don’t already have an Xbox Series X, check out our replenishment site for Xbox Series X. Our next-gen console supply shortage continues, but we’re hopeful that it will end soon. As soon as we obtain any fresh resupply information, we’ll post it here.
