Monolith Productions, the studio behind Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and its sequel Middle-earth: Shadow of War, has confirmed that a Wonder Woman game is in the works.
Wonder Woman is slated to be a single-player, third-person, open-world action-adventure that will present a completely new original tale set within the DC universe, as revealed at the 2021 Game Awards, with a trailer giving us our first glance of the legendary DC character.
According to publisher Warner Bros., players will take on the role of Diana of Themyscira (aka Wonder Woman) as she “fights to unify her Amazon family and the humans from the contemporary world.” Also See WWE Royal Rumble 2022 live stream: start time, how to watch tonight Anywhere
Furthermore, the Nemesis System from the Middle-Earth series will be used in this Wonder Woman game, with players establishing deep bonds with foes and allies as they move through the game. This certainly seems like a superhero game unlike any we’ve seen before (and there are a lot of them out there right now).
There’s still a lot we don’t know about Wonder Woman, including its release date, but you can read on for all we know so far about the Wonder Woman game.

WONDER WOMAN RELEASE DATE AND PLATFORMS
Monolith Productions hasn’t said when we’ll be able to get our hands on the Wonder Woman game, or which platforms it will be available on.
We can, however, make an informed guess that Wonder Woman will not be released until at least late 2022, and that it will most likely be released on the PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. We might possibly see a release on the PS4 and Xbox One, but we assume that (given the game’s likely release date) Monolith would attempt to target the newest technology without being hampered by the previous generation of consoles.
WONDER WOMAN TRAILER
The Wonder Woman announcement teaser video doesn’t reveal much, but it does show the hero up close, replete with her famous Lasso of Truth. Although there isn’t much to go on, we’re intrigued by Monolith Production’s design interpretation of Diana Prince.
WONDER WOMAN NEWS AND RUMORS
We’ve included all of the most recent Wonder Woman game news and speculations here. Details are few for the time being, but we’ll update this page as soon as we learn more.
Is there any cross-generational potential?
Although no platforms for Monolith’s planned Wonder Woman game have been announced, the current-gen PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles, as well as PC, have felt like a fair bet. However, fresh job postings at Monolith indicate that last-generation platforms, such as the PS4 and Xbox One, may also be considered.
The job advertisements for senior and advanced systems engineers, as discovered by SegmentNext, call for someone to “create state-of-the-art rendering technologies for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PC, and any other platforms we embrace.” However, the job postings also ask for “experience creating for either Xbox One or PlayStation 4 (ideally both),” which is worth noting.
As it stands, job advertisements like this are no assurance of what platforms the game will finally launch on, and we’ll have to wait for an official confirmation from Monolith before we can start planning our platform for Wonder Woman.
an emphasis on storey generated by the players
In a Wonder Woman press release, David Hewitt, Studio Head of Monolith Productions, highlighted how the Nemesis System will be used to “push the open-world genre ahead” by merging cutting-edge action with innovative tales.
A familiar slew of foes to defeat
We don’t know who Diana’s major antagonists will be in the Wonder Woman game yet, but we can almost certainly expect to encounter some known figures from the DC world. We’re hoping that Ares is the main antagonist in Monolith, with Cheetah, Giganta, Circe, and Doctor Psycho making cameos in some capacity – possibly just behind Ares in the Nemesis system rankings.
What is more plausible (and makes more sense) is that Wonder Woman would take on Villainy, Incorporated, since the Nemesis System would complement the villainous-team dynamic.
An unnoticed jet
Sure, it’s silly, but we’d want to see Monolith (somehow) cool down Wonder Woman’s invisible plane. Wonder Woman 1984 did, kind of, but it’d be fantastic to see the developer incorporate the jet into gameplay in a way that doesn’t feel forced.
Combat that is pleasurable
Recent superhero games have shown us that how a hero feels to play is a make-or-break aspect. We’re hoping Wonder Woman feels as powerful as she should, with tremendous melee assaults and, of course, the ability to Lasso of Truth our foes.
Taking use of the PS5 and Xbox Series X’s power
Following on from our last point, we’d want to see Monolith add haptic feedback and adaptive controller support to Wonder Woman so we can feel the tension in the lasso or the sensation of kicking Cheetah in the face (hopefully). We’re also anticipating (more than hoping) that, despite being an open-world adventure, Wonder Woman will have few loading windows and look great.
