Staying alive may be made easier in Horizon Forbidden West by following these guidelines.
Once again, Horizon Forbidden West has been released. Horizon Zero Dawn players can look forward to the same high-quality visuals, difficult gameplay, wide global exploration, and compelling storey in its sequel. First PS5 and PS4 exclusive of 2022, it’s sure to be a hit over the whole year.
As we said in our Horizon Forbidden West review, this isn’t a ground-breaking sequel, but it is a tremendously enjoyable one.
In several ways, Horizon Forbidden West surpasses the difficulty of Horizon: No Man’s Sky. As long as you aren’t prepared, the world’s most ferocious foes will swiftly terminate your life. Along with a vast open environment to explore, there are several side tasks and items to be found. We’re here to provide a helping hand whenever things become too much for you.
Horizon Forbidden West has a few tricks under its sleeve that we’ve included for your convenience.
1. Scan enemies and the environment
Aloy has a gadget called a Focus that may provide you with a wealth of helpful knowledge about the world and its people. Activating the overlay by pressing R3 brings up a list of lootable boxes and other objects that may be used for crafting. Scalable mountains and structures will have yellow highlights to show you precisely where you can climb.
Aloy’s Focus is mostly used to detect weak points in your opponent’s defences. You’ll know to deploy acid arrows against a machine if it’s vulnerable to acid, for example. Parts that may shatter or blow up if impacted are also seen in the shot. You may get a big edge over your opponents if you know which sections of the machine to concentrate on.
You won’t have to continuously re-initiate Focus to keep an eye out for important items and weak points on the adversary. And unlike comparable “detective modes” featured in games like the Batman Arkham series, the game merely emphasises things of interest in the environment. A gaudy coloured overlay will not detract from the stunning visuals.
Use your best buddy, focus, whenever you can.
2. Craft and upgrade often
Horizon Forbidden West, as already said, may be extremely harsh. Upgrade your gear if you want to survive more than two minutes against gigantic Thunderjaws or Tenakth rebels.
Workbenches are found in practically every village and shelter in the globe. In this section, you’ll use stuff you’ve gotten from missions or taken from killed foes to create new items. At workbenches, the process of making things is a simple one. It is as simple as picking a weapon or armour set and crafting it.
You’ll be informed if you lack the essential materials for a certain craft by the game. You may make a quest to locate something you’ve lost. When you do this, a waypoint appears on your map, indicating the location of the desired objects. You’ll save a lot of time and effort by taking use of this option. As a result, you won’t have to waste time roaming around in search of a certain sort of equipment. If you have the Focus ability, it will even tell you which portion of a machine you need to dismantle. That’s a great idea!
3. Add coils to weapons and gear
Weapon and equip stats may be boosted by using coils. It is possible to increase enemy deaths by inserting an additional five points of heat into the fire damage of your fire arrows, as an example. It is possible to protect yourself against a variety of assaults, from ranged and melee to elemental. If you have the correct coils in place, you can survive even the most horrific battles and even kill your foes before the battle even starts.
There are a fixed number of coil slots in each weapon and item of gear, however you may increase this number by improving your gear. To increase the power of a coil, you might utilise more of the same or various kinds of coils. In addition to being a common prize for finishing missions, coils may be discovered all around the landscape. Finally, you may change out the coils whenever you want. This gives you an incentive to experiment with different coils to find which ones work best for you as well as to be ready for different sorts of enemies.
4. Overide Tallnecks
Large giraffe-like robots with large saucer-shaped heads are known as tallnecks. In contrast to most other machinery, these gorgeous giants are non-threatening and serene. Using your specialised spear to override a Tallneck’s head allows you to discover new areas of the map by climbing to the top. Horizon Forbidden West’s Tallnecks are like the Far Cry series’ towers, and they’re just as valuable.
5. Complete side quests and supplemental content
A lot of the unnecessary material in open-world games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla serves just to lengthen the already excessive playtimes. Most of the supplementary material in Horizon Forbidden West is worth your time for a variety of reasons.
Side quests may provide important gear, coils, and crafting materials in terms of gameplay. In addition to the main campaign, side missions will offer you access to the most powerful weapons and armour. Eventually, you’ll be able to take on arena-style tasks that reward you with some very fantastic equipment.
All of the Forbidden West’s side quests have distinct and compelling storylines that add to the setting and characters. Most missions require you to battle against robots, but the narrative attached to them give them a sense of depth and meaning.
6. Don’t search for collectibles until the final act
The map is littered with artefacts. Some of them, like Metroid Dread, need specialist equipment in order to be captured. It’s futile, for example, to try to explore a submerged tunnel without an oxygen mask.
Once the last act has concluded, it’s wise to begin searching for collectibles. When you’re ready to begin the last quest, the game will let you know. If you wait until then, you’ll have everything you need to track down those elusive treasures. You may, however, go back and acquire any goods (and complete side quests) that you missed before the campaign is over.
7. Take your time and enjoy the world
The best way to experience Horizon Forbidden West is to take your time. Spend some time taking in the breathtaking views that surround you. Use a discussion wheel to learn about the globe and its inhabitants by going through all of the options. Investigate every grotto and craggy peak along the way. As long as possible, enjoy this book. You’ve been waiting for it for five years now. You can trust us on this.
