After a universe reset, the Hargreeves siblings are no longer superheroes.
If the fourth season of The Umbrella Academy does come, things will be less than stellar. Netflix hasn’t officially renewed the dark superhero drama, but a second season seems like a certainty. Showrunner Steve Blackman told The Wrap(opens in new tab) that “I believe eventually if we had a Season 4, it’s headed towards an ending” that the Umbrella Academy’s last chapter may be.
Stranger Things season 4 volume 1 fell to second place with the release of Umbrella Academy season 3 on Netflix on June 22, 2022, with almost 125 million hours seen worldwide. Only Stranger Things season 4 volume 2 is ahead of it at the time of publication.
Fans all across the globe clearly love Umbrella Academy, which is why we’re certain a new season will be announced soon. Season 3 ended with a cliffhanger, so it’s unclear when the program will return or what its plot lines will be.
It’s 1963 Dallas as we pick up with the Hargreeves siblings in Season 3. Sparrow Academy has supplanted them in their current timeframe, and they are shocked to discover this. Now that they’ve produced a universe-ending contradiction with their time-traveling ruses, they must figure out a method to avoid a similar catastrophe in the future.
According to Blackman, Netflix has already received a season 4 proposal that may serve as the show’s end. “What we’re doing and where we’re headed are clear to me. For the first four seasons of ‘Umbrella,’ all I knew was what I assumed they were “He went on to say more about it. “If we’re fortunate enough to have more of it, I have no clue where I’m going to go after Season 4.”
Everything we know so far about the fourth season of Umbrella Academy is included in this guide.
Umbrella Academy season 4 release date speculation
Netflix has yet to commission a fourth season of Umbrella Academy, but it seems to be a foregone conclusion. Because Netflix usually announces the following season around a month after the previous one concludes, we’re hoping to hear something in the next few weeks.
Once it is confirmed that the program will be renewed, Blackman and the rest of the writing staff will go to work on fresh episodes of the series. Pre-production and more casting will follow, and then filming will commence. Post-production will begin as soon as filming is completed.
Although the pandemic delayed season 3, we may learn a little something from the scheduling of previous seasons. There were two seasons, with the first airing this year, with the second following in July 2020, around six months after the second season of season 1. Season 3 premiered in June 2022, two years after Season 2.
Our best bet is that the fourth season of the Umbrella Academy will premiere in spring or summer of 2024.
Umbrella Academy season 4 cast
While not yet officially confirmed, we expect the Umbrella Academy season 4 cast will feature the nine main players seen at the end of season 3 episode 10:
- Elliot Page as Viktor aka Number Seven, who can convert soundwaves into a destructive force
- Tom Hopper Luther aka Number One, who has super strength and the upper body of an ape
- David Castaneda as Diego aka Number Two, who can curve the trajectory of anything he throws
- Emmy Raver-Lampman as Allison aka Number Three, who can control minds with the phrase “I heard a rumor…”
- Robert Sheehan as Klaus aka Number Four, who can communicate with the dead and make them corporeal for a temporary time
- Aidan Gallagher as Number Five, who can travel through space and time
- Justin H. Min as Ben aka Number Six, also Sparrow #2, who can unleash huge tentacles from his body
- Colm Feore as Sir Reginald Hargreeves, an alien lifeform who becomes a billionaire industrialist and adopts the siblings.
- Ritu Arya as Lila Pitts, the Handler’s adopted daughter and Diego’s girlfriend, who has mirroring superpowers.
Other Umbrella Academy cast members who may return include:
- Genesis Rodriguez as Sloane, Luther’s wife and a Sparrow Academy member who can manipulate the gravity of herself and others.
- Liisa Repo-Martell as Abigail Hargreeves, Reginald’s wife.
- Yusuf Gatewood as Raymond Chestnut, Allison’s husband.
- Jordan Claire Robbins as Grace Hargreeves, the siblings’ robot mom in season 1.
- Adam Godley and Ken Hall as Pogo, an intelligent chimpanzee who serves as Reginald’s assistant. Godley provides the voice and facial capture, while Hall provides the body motion capture.
In addition to Sloane, there’s a chance that season 4 will incorporate her Sparrow siblings in some capacity. They are:
- Justin Cornwell as Marcus (Sparrow #1), who possesses immense strength.
- Britne Oldford as Fei (Sparrow #3), who sees through the murder of crows she can manifest.
- Jake Epstein as Alphonso (Sparrow #4), a scarred crime-fighter who can harm others by inflicting it upon himself
- Cazzie David as Jayme (Sparrow #6), a loner who can spit venom that causes hallucinations.
- Christopher (Sparrow #7) is a telekinetic cube who can control the temperature of a room and induce existential dread in people’s minds.
Umbrella Academy season 4 storyline possibilities and season 3 ending, explained
A total reboot may be in store for The Umbrella Academy following the events of the season 3 finale.
When the Hargreeves siblings (minus Luther and Klaus, who were killed in Kugelblitz) escaped to the Hotel Oblivion to escape the universe-eating Kugelblitz, the three remaining Guardians attacked them. The deadly samurai guarding the reset button in the hotel attacked them in “Oblivion,” episode 10 of season 3.
Five finds the sign of the reset button on the lobby floor after fighting them (with the assistance of a revived Klaus and a ghost Luther). Except for Allison, the seven surviving supers are urged to take their places on the chosen stars by Reginald. The machine, on the other hand, continues to deplete their energy and eventually kills them.
Allison pleads with Reginald to stop. In the event that he fails to comply, she slashes off his head and performs a self-reset.
Allison is reunited with her family in the other dimension, including her husband Ray and their daughter Claire. A door opens, revealing that the Hotel Oblivion does not exist, and the other characters escape. Additionally, Luther’s body shrinks in size. However, Sloane has vanished. Five’s hand is still intact, but he is unable to travel across time and space. All of them have lost their authority.
Luther is the first to embark in quest of Sloane, and others quickly follow suit. Reginald also has his gaze fixed on the city skyline, which is dominated by the H logo. Abigail, his wife, joins him.
Like the beginning of seasons 1 and 2, the Hargreeves siblings (including Sparrow Ben) are likely to be dispersed and living their separate lives in season 4. They may have to form a new team and re-establish their bonds in order to survive another catastrophe.
They’ll first have to deal with a new, strange world that Reginald didn’t get around to create before that happens.
That means “everything is reset and how it is reset and the manner we’re going to be heading to hopefully in Season 4,” Blackman said.
The presence of a second Ben, who is seen riding the train in Seoul, South Korea, during the credits, adds an intriguing layer of complexity to the story.
They’ll also have to deal with the fact that they no longer have abilities. In an interview with The Wrap, Blackman said the following: “‘Would they be happy without their powers?’ is the question I’d want to bring to the audience and the fans. Because, you know, all they do is whine about being themselves.
That’s what we want to know: Will Victor and Diego be happy without it? With no special abilities, would the world no longer be appropriate for them? Is it possible for them to be considered ‘normal’?”
