Apple Lightning iPad connection debuted on the fourth generation iPad.
The world would appear to want Apple to jettison as many connections as possible yet there was once a period when the adoption of Lightning was a major concern. When the fourth-generation iPad was released, Apple ditched the 30-pin Dock Connector in favour of a Lightning port.
Although the iPad was categorised as outdated internally as early as November, MacRumors claims that today is the first time the tablet has been added to Apple’s official list of defunct devices. Launched in November 2012, the fourth-generation iPad followed the iPhone 5’s Lightning revolution two months earlier.
The Mid-2010 and Late-2012 Mac mini devices have also been added to the obsolete list.
According to Apple’s website, an out-of-date product is described as follows:
When Apple ceased selling a product more than seven years ago, it was deemed outdated. Regardless of when they were acquired, Monster-branded Beats items are considered outdated.
Mac laptops are the only ones eligible for an extra battery-only repair term before Apple discontinues all hardware servicing for old devices. For outmoded goods, service providers are unable to order replacement components.
A new iPad may be on your shopping list. For most people, the iPad Air is the greatest tablet, however the iPad Pro could argue otherwise!
