This might be a huge shift for Samsung’s foldable, which is renowned for its conservative hues.
It’s rare for Samsung to experiment with color variations for its Galaxy Z Fold phone. And until now, reports regarding the next Galaxy Z Fold 4’s color options have been loyal to Samsung’s buttoned-down strategy.
However, if a rumor tweeted by an industry source is correct, the next generation of the Galaxy Z Fold might be in line for a splash of color.
A new color choice for the Galaxy Z Fold 4(opens in new tab) has been suggested by the CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, Ross Young, on Twitter. “Dark Red” is the term used to describe the additional color.
Young seems to be privy to information on the color options for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. He’s the one who first speculated that the foldable will come in beige, black, and gray when it does, as many think, emerge later this summer. According to Jon Prosser, a third leaker, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 will also be made available in green.
Adding a fourth color to Samsung’s product line would be a departure for the company in many respects. When it comes to Galaxy Z Fold colors, Samsung isn’t exactly renowned for delivering a rainbow of choices. Three color variations were available at launch for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 compared to two for the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
The colors of the Galaxy Z Fold tend to be somewhat boring. For a phone billed as a productivity boost for professionals on the road, there are Phantom Black, Phantom Green, and Phantom Silver Phantom versions of the foldable. It seems that the beige, black, and gray alternatives that Young had previously mentioned are in the same vein.
However, Samsung and Dark Red have a recent history. We’d anticipate the Dark Red color Young is tweeting about to be similar to the burgundy shade of the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which was introduced earlier this year. Some consistency may be offered among the company’s high-end flagships.
Although the Galaxy Z Fold 4’s reported colors are usually a hot topic, they aren’t the most important aspects of the phone. Redesigned hinges are reported to be in the works for the future foldable. As with prior generations, there may be less of a noticeable wrinkle across the screen this time around. In addition, the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 system-on-chip, which is expected to improve both performance and battery efficiency, is expected to be used by Samsung.
During a Galaxy Unpacked event in August, we hope to see the Galaxy Z Fold 4 as well as other new Samsung products. You can check out our Samsung Unpacked Event August 2022 preview to learn more about what the company plans to show off at the next event.
