A fresh rumour out of South Korea paints an intriguing picture for Galaxy Z Fold 4. Samsung’s next big phone release this year while we all eagerly await the arrival of our Samsung Galaxy S22 devices on February 25. Could see a significant update to the Galaxy Z Fold 4
Rumor has it that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 might receive its own built-in S Pen like the Galaxy Note, according to prominent South Korean website The Elec (via SamMobile). We’ve already seen a silo for the S Pen in the Galaxy S22 Ultra, so this would be in line with what we’ve seen so far.
It’s a stark contrast to Samsung’s S-Pen deployment last year, when the Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold 3 both supported the pen and were sold as optional accessories. With last year’s phones, you had to figure out how to store the S Pen, and the best choice was generally a large cover.
With a built-in S Pen, the productivity of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 would be greatly enhanced. It was fun to use the pen on Samsung’s folding phone Fold 3, but it’s still a big gadget. Due to the S Pen’s lack of storage, it was difficult to use when out and about.
With the Galaxy S22 Ultra setting the bar, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a Galaxy Z Fold 4 launch with a S Pen. Considering that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is, in many ways, a reincarnation of the Galaxy Note line, it’s possible that Samsung may include a S Pen in the device. We wouldn’t have a problem with it.
Like last year, we anticipate Samsung will make the Galaxy Z Fold 4 official during an Unpacked event in August. Since the Galaxy Z Flip 3 was such a popular foldable (likely due to its $999 starting price), we should expect a Galaxy Z Flip 4 as well.
We don’t know much about Samsung’s finest foldable phones at the time, but if we had to guess, we’d say that the company’s focus on durability and battery life would be prominent features. The battery life of both of the Samsung Galaxy Z phones could use some substantial work. There won’t be any radical design changes with the forthcoming phones, but it would be wonderful if Samsung adopted a more square form factor for the phone mode of the Galaxy Z Fold. We don’t like how it’s folded right now since it’s too tall and thin.
The technical details of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 have been leaked online. The dedicated integrated S Pen slot from the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy Note series is anticipated to be borrowed by the next Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 successor. A rumour also exposes the display specifications of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 months before its release.
It is said by Elec that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 foldable display would have a screen size similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. (Review). There is a 7.56-inch diagonal foldable display inside. The foldable smartphone is expected to have an under-screen camera, despite the fact that the article does not explicitly specify this.
At 6.19 inches, the outside display is believed to be somewhat smaller. In comparison to the 6.2-inch screen on the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s outer screen, one might not notice the difference. A 22:9 aspect ratio is possible for the gadget.
Flip 4 is also mentioned in the report in some depth. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 is expected to sport the same 6.7-inch foldable display on the interior, according to leaked information.
