Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets will be able to self-repair in the near future according to a new initiative from Samsung US. Users of Samsung smartphones may now access tools and tutorials for mending their devices via the Galaxy self-repair programme, which was developed in partnership with iFixit. In the beginning, the programme will only include the Galaxy S20 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ smartphones, but it will expand to include other devices in the future. It’s not clear whether the initiative will be rolled out to other countries.
Displays, back glass, and charging connections will be available to the devices that were confirmed at launch. In the press statement, battery replacements are not addressed, but Samsung’s US CEO confirmed to The Verge that display assembly arrive with batteries, which should make the repair procedure easier. In addition to recycling your damaged components, Samsung will accept your old parts for recycling. A lot more information will be made available once the programme is ready to go into full swing.
