Qualcomm confirmed Snapdragon 7 Gen 1

For Android, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+ may be the new standard flagship processor, but we also have a new midrange alternative with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Qualcomm’s dedicated AI Engine, up to 200MP picture capture, and Android Ready SE for e-money solutions are all firsts for the SD 7 series on the new 4nm technology.

The new SoC is powered by an Adreno 662 GPU and a Kryo CPU cluster clocked up to 2.4GHz. According to Qualcomm, the new processor performs graphics 20 percent faster and AI tasks 30 percent better than the previous Snapdragon 778G.

In comparison to the SD 778G, the Adreno Frame Motion Engine is said to be able to double framerates in games while using the same amount of electricity. The new processor can handle up to 16GB of low-power DDR5 RAM.

The Snapdragon X62 5G modem, which is available in both standby (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes and offers download rates of 4.4 Gbps, is also included in SD 7 Gen 1. WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and Snapdragon Sound and aptX are all included as well.

The Qualcomm Spectra triple ISP supports photo capture up to 200MP and video recording up to 4K HDR. Additionally, this camera supports 10-bit HEIC photo and HEVC video recording. The Android SE and Trusted Management Engine, which offer excellent security for digital keys and wallets, are yet another first for the Android operating system.

From a wide range of manufacturers, the first batch of Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 phones are scheduled to arrive in a few weeks. When Oppo’s Reno8 Pro is revealed on May 23, it is believed to be the first phone to use the new chipset.
